If you go to Antigua and want to get the most of the experience, it is important you choose a place in the old city, in walking distance of the central square. If you are not up to an expensive boutique hotel (e.g. Posada del Angel, where the Clintons stayed) and Casa de Santo Domingo is overbooked (a favorite for... more

We just returned from 2 weeks in Antigua and stayed about 9 of those nights in this hotel. I can't say enough about the service in this hotel. Everything is spotless and the grounds are adorned with tropical plants, little fountains, cozy sitting places and a perfect view of Aqua Volcano. If you have children or are traveling with a... more

We had a large set of rooms in the hotels new annex, and though being apart from the main building had its negatives, the beautiful rooms and ambiance made up for it. The rooms were sizable, decorated with lovely style, and each had its own fireplace. The only negative about the rooms--they got stuffy when the windows are closed, which... more

We stayed in the newest addition and inspite of a little construction noise in the daytime, it was charming and pleasant. Very private, lovely small pool in the new addition. more

This hotel was a hidden treasure. As you approach the walls of the hotel it appears to be nothing special, but once on the grounds I was in awe of the beauty. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished with a fire place. My favorite thing about the room was the heavy warm blanket you will find in the... more

This hotel was booked because my first choice wasn't available. But I liked it so much I'll stay there when I go back. The room was very comfortable. I had my own patio and a fireplace. The bath room was above average. The bed was very, very comfortable. I had an inside room (overlooking the large courtyard), so it was... more

This is a terrific hotel, we stayed there for four nights with our four children. Our room which was not a suite was extremely spacious and nice. The kids loved the place. They loved the swimming pool , the playground and the bird cages. The food was terrific and the bar which is open late in the night had chicken... more

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Antigua for 3 nights in January 2006. The hotel is part of the four-star La Porta chain, and certainly lives up to its ranking. It is on a side street about four short blocks from the main square, within easy walking distance along shop-lined streets. The main section of the hotel is... more

We were supposed to stay at Casa Santo Domingo but due to overbooking were bumped and sent here. The hotel though not quite as beautiful as the Casa is quite charming with a very nice pool in the center adequate for lap swimming and warm since it is heated. The staff were all excellent especially the dining room staff. The... more

More than a little bit of paradise hidden behind the usual concrete façades that one finds in Antigua, Guatemala. Very beautiful grounds, including swimming pool, outdoor restaurant, and chatty birds. Wonderful room w/ own private terrace and fireplace. Especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast served in the open air restaurant - featuring 2 chefs and an extraordinary variety of Latin American... more
