To potential guests - beware the food. We checked in for a 2 night stay. The hotel grounds and location are nice enough. The problems began with the staff, which was not particularly helpful during check-in or other interactions. But the real problem began with the dinner the first evening, or rather I should say the night after the dinner.... more

We (A group of three) stayed two nights in this Hotel (19 and 20th of November, 2009). My wife and I were very impressed by the grounds and the magnificent combination of ruins and restoration (An original colonial sculpture is in front of every room!). An unbelievable effort was put in place to keep the atmosphere 100% colonial right down... more

To potential guests: Beware. We had a two night reservation. We checked in and found the hotel grounds to be quite attractive but were alerted to less than 5 star quality by a staff that was not particularly welcoming. It got worse. There were two weddings held there that night and rather than book rooms adjacent to the wedding and... more

This hotel is in an old monastery. I have been to a lot of different places and this felt like being in my own castle. The grounds our pristine and breathtaking! I brought pictures home and they just don't do the hotel justice. At night everything is lit by candle. The art work is original and the fountains our great.... more

The hotel has absolutely beautiful ground, enchanting, magical, with many inner gardens, different gates, exposed brick walls, exotic plants, statues, paintings, decorations. My room was big, clean and comfortable with the cutest patio outside. Buffet style breakfast has great selection for all possilbe tastes (it comes in two versions - big selection and even bigger selection); however, the menu version... more

For the first part of our honeymoon, we stayed at Casa Santo Domingo. Gorgeous hotel that was once an old monastery; it is enchanting, magical. Candles lit everywhere at night, rose petals in all the water. Our room was amazing; my husband surprised me by getting the Presidential Suite, which had 2 rooms, huge bathroom, balcony with outdoor jetted tub.... more

I was SHOCKED reading some of the other reviews and wondered if we were even in the same hotel. This hotel is GORGEOUS!! Once you step inside the walls, you feel as if you have been transported back to the time when it was a monastery. We had a large room, with a fireplace, dining area, living room and jacuzzi.... more

It is amazingly beautiful there. The grounds are impeccable and the pool is fantastic. It's like staying in a park... there are ruins there. The rooms are spacious and clean with the same architecture and feel of the ruins. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom is beautiful and luxurious. They unfortunately don't treat their staff very well. more
