My husband and I just returned from a romatic getaway for my birthday in Antigua Guatemala. We normally stay at Hotel Panza Verde, but decided to try something new this time... We searched for hotels near the center at an acceptable price through the internet and came upon The Cloister, located near the famous yellow portal. Excellent location!! Upon arrival... more

I am writing this review about 10 months after my visit. I just realized that it had slipped my mind to review this B&B. My husband and I had a lovely visit to Antigua and were happy with our stay at the Cloister. The location was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very good. My... more

What a lovely B&B. Stayed there a few nights with my adult son and the room was a well-appointed, large suite with two very comfortable beds, a fireplace, walk-in closet and a great bathroom. The staff is lovely. Did our laundry and even scrubbed my son's tennis shoes after our volcano hike. The whole property is very well cared for... more

The Cloisters is a lovely B&B with a wonderfully helpful staff. Our room had fresh flowers -- tulips and tuberoses, which opened fragrantly during our stay. A prior review describes the owner as difficult, but I think perhaps she is a bit absentminded and no longer young. Our sense was that the staff was beginning to take care of her... more

I have stayed at The Cloister on and off for years and ending up buying a house in Antigua. My one regret about buying a house was not staying at The Cloister anymore. But I do on occasion when my house is rented. The staff are delightful and have been there for years. It is totally secure and the ambience... more

We were very fortunate to stay in the beautiful Master suite. The Cloister operates like a true B&B,You are given a key to the entrance gates. No door keys to the rooms, which was great after having to worry about our valuables in previous hotels! The 7 rooms all have fireplaces and are very tastefully decorated with local textiles and... more

The Cloister is definately a little oasis. A beautiful place in the centre of Antigua. The staff are great. The rooms are fantastic. The courtyard is very chilled out. The only thing wrong with the rooms is that none of them have locks or safes. This leaves you nowhere to lock up valuables. Our visit was marred by our encounter... more

I felt that this hotel was a home away from home. The staff made us feel like one of the family. Their kindness and generosity was a welcome introduction to the spirit of Antigua. Rolando was particularly friendly and helpful. Catalina made wonderful breakfasts to order and Barbara was a wecoming hostess. We well return. Thank you all for a... more

The Cloister is a great little hotel tucked under the arch in Antigua. We had a small room, tucked way in the back corner. It was very private (unlike the rooms around the center courtyard), with a little fireplace that was set up for us with wood every evening. It was romantic and private, but with a great location in... more

This charming, seven room B&B featured a delightful, well trimmed courtyard with small pool, colorful flowers and birds. The rooms were spacious, high ceilinged with fireplace and both matromonial and double beds decorated with local indigenous weavings, prints, statuary, with tiled floors. The breakfasts were limited in choices but ample, pure water was brought to the room daily and beds... more
