We recently stayed at The President in Split traveling with a tour group. I was anxious as the previous reviews were awful and had expressed anxiety to our travel agent and the tour company. When we got to the President Hotel, the staff was helpful, we had a delightful large room, everything worked and looked new. The hotel was in... more

The rooms are microscopic and the smell from the drains in the bathroom was so bad we left the fan on all night just to escape the odor. This place is no more a five star than a Motel 6. It would be hardpressed to make a 2 star. more

As part of a tour group. obviously you do not get the best part of the hotel.. We were in a very small; room in the older section. we had to take turns to move around in it. The dining room was something else, obviously the newer part of the hotel would have made it a more memorable visit.. To... more

But NOT today. This hotel was once a gem of a place. Tito used to put people up in here. But like most hotels in Split it suffered greatly as a refugee shelter during the wars that broke out at the dissolution of Yugoslavia. The President was among the last to return as a commercial hotel, and it needs a... more

We stayed at this hotel based on its 4 star rating. This hotel was a joke. The Front desk staff, as is common in post-communist countries, were rude and obstructive. However there was a very sweet and helpful waiter and I had an excellent risotto at the restaurant. When we returned after walking all day in the heat we found... more

The staff is ineficient and disorganized. They make you call twice, send email or fax to confirm your booking which is not convenient while you are off travelling the country. They book (and charge you) a parking place but if you drive away for an afternoon ride, your place will be rebooked (and recharged to another person). "We're sorry" is... more

For the majority of our time in Croatia, we stayed in private accomodations, but for the first night there, I wanted to be in a hotel - after 18 hours of traveling, I wanted the security of a "homebase" knowing there would be people there who spoke English, could provide information about ferry and bus schedules, and book reservations. The... more

We satyed at this hotel for one night as a break in the guided tour bus ride from the north down to Dubrovnik. The town is worth a day's look as it contains Diacletian's Palace which is a sight to behold. The hotel is interesting. Our room (number 514) was on the back and very quiet with excellent air-conditioning. It... more

SPLIT, Croatia: Hotel President If you are looking for a comfortable hotel in the seaside town of Split on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, I’d warmly recommend Hotel President****. Although not entirely family run, the delightful owners and the pleasant and most helpful/efficient staff make you feel at home. The position is excellent – 5 min walk from the ancient... more
