Apartment Markov is a great place to use as a base while traveling around Zadar and other nearby areas. It's a large 3 or 4 story house that was recently built or renovated so the rooms are updated and clean. Markov is run by a lovely German couple who speak very litte English, but that still didn't stop them from sharing a glass of wine and a cup of coffee when we first arrived. They stay in the very bottom floor apartment and don't bother you at all, but are readily available if you need any advice on where to go or how to get somewhere.

Finding apartments in Zadar was difficult if you try to prepare ahead of time. Most hotels are located in an area called Borik about 2.5 miles away from Zadar. If you want to wing it you can arrive from a boat there will be lots of people holding pictures of their apartments and you can try to choose one that way and hope that you're not wasting your time.
