Apartments Irena is a newly renovated small hotel located a short walk from the main train station in Lviv. While initially it was hard to find, it's actually in a great location for train and bus travellers. Storozhenka is a very quiet street and it takes about fifteen minutes if you're walking to get into the centre, on a straight line down one of the main roads. The advantage is you will pay less (about 28 Euros a night for my single) and the walk is a pleasant one. I much prefer a short walk to the train when I'm carrying bags.
The staff are friendly and eager to help, and while their English skills aren't the best they get the job done. The breakfast is a fixed menu but, by Eastern European standards (which can be dire), each day's breakfast was tasty and worth sticking round the hotel. The rooms are surprisingly spacious. I found this hotel to be a very positive experience and a place to look forward to after a day of jostling in the town centre.
