Fact is there are very few budget range lodging options in/or near the center of Old Lviv. The George Hotel not only offers a GREAT central location, but also an adequate and comfortable stay at a relatively good value. I am addressing specifically their "2nd Class" (unrestored/slightly-refurbished) category of rooms, which are "no frills", but comfortable, clean & even nostalgic.... more

The young lady at reception spoke very good English, that she used to inform me that there were no more "Tourist Economy Rooms" which was strange since there was hardly anybody in the hotel and the car park was empty. Anyway she told me to give her my passport "for a few minutes, FOR REGISTRATION". I returned after an hour... more

This hotel is not the Ritz-Carlton or the Hilton. This hotel built in 1901 is in a perfect location of L'viv. Hotel staff spoke little english, yet tried to be tenative to any requests. Room was clean with satin curtains & bedspread. This hotel will remind you of the pictures you saw inside hotels of the former Soviet Union back in... more

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. We transferred from Hotel Dnister as we decided to stay longer, but did not want to pay the high prices charged at the Dnister. Reception was courteous, although not friendly. They allowed us to view several rooms - we saw the semi deluxe room (540 uah) and the 1st class (400 uah -... more

At the moment this is a good hotel but not a great hotel. However, it has the potenitial to be a great hotel. Good points: Location: Right on main square Deluxe Single Room- 80 euro for a two room suite per night is not bad value as you would pay double this in some of the more exclusive hotels in... more

The hotel is rather spartan but ok. It is located smack in the middel of town and does have a certain charm to it. Service is on the other hand poor and you feel like you are doing the staff some great disfavor by being there. When we were leaving we asked the reception to order us a taxi which... more

Economy rooms look like they were left like that since the Sowjet era. Way to toilet and shower facilities quite long. Showers were unclean. Showerhead was damaged. Breakfast was as well like in the old times: Everybody eats the same. One day it was 2 fried eggs, the next day a huge omelete and the third a pancake. No alternatives. more

We were told to stay at the deluxe suite, so we did. Later we found out that the apartment used to be occupied by the last Austrian Emperor and the famous Polish tenor, Jan Kiepura. When we left our room door slightly opened, we had a couple of tourist storming into our room requesting the tour of the much famed... more

Originally had reservations at WienHotel, but they became booked after I had booked a reservation(?) and referred me to Hotel George. Typical Eastern Europe fare. Cavernous Stalinist rooms. I was booked for a double bed, but only received a single bed in which two people could not comfortably sleep in so I slept on the floor some nights. Bed was... more

1. The location was very good. Right on a main square, I could walk to all of the main sights. 2. The building had so much character! Beautiful lobby, grand staircase, wide hallways with high ceilings; old and a tiny bit ramshackle, but really cool. Not the Ritz, but really full of atmosphere from a long-past time. 3. My room... more
