Had fantastic trip with untravelled paths, the ice hotel was great, a once in a lifetime sight.
The food was 4 courses and was good value as even though £40 it was very nice and very well presented.

The Hotel of Ice is built every winter in the Romanian Carpathians. It is the only hotel made of ice and snow in south-eastern Europe. The hotel is open from December to April. Building material is the ice of the glacier lake Balea. The hotel has 10 double rooms and three other rooms in separate igloos. A real must-see is the mountain scenery around the Hotel of Ice, located at an altitude of 2,000 meters.The Hotel of Ice at Balea Lac is situated on a glacier lake in the Fagaras Mountains in the southern Carpathians. The mountain range marks the southern border of Transylvania, a historical region in central Romania. Access to the hotel in winter is possible only by cable car.The guests of Hotel of Ice can expect a 3-star service. On arrival you will receive a guided tour through the hotel and the Ice Church. Of course, not all facilities are housed in the hotel. Right next to the hotel you´ll find a mountain hut where are located all sanitary facilities and a (warm) restaurant.
