Great location, across the road from the waterfront. Welcome lemon drink and fantastic breakfast buffet. Very comfy king bed with good TV (lots of channels but not many english). Bathroom clean and large but not designed very well - door bangs into toilet and I had to maneouvre around the door to get to toilet!! Large rooms with nice decoration... More

A very nice period boutique hotel situated a couple of hundred metres from the sea front. Close to what sights there are to see in Alexandria, with restaurants and some lovely patisseries nearby. Within walking distance of main railway station. Rooms very tasteful, with period decoration. Breakfast first rate. Staff very friendly and helpful at arranging travel. Also close to... More

This hotel exudes nostalgia. The rooms iare in French Imperial style, with gilded lamps and bordeaux red bedspreads, against floral wallpaper and high ceilings. It's really quite beautiful, as are the lobby and restaurant. Quite a contrast with the dilapidated surroundings. The location is also quite good, next to the boulevard and the tram line. Why then not a higher... More

Le Metropole is a beautiful, welcoming and comfortable hotel in the middle of Alexandria. By far the best hotel we visited in Egypt. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. More

As soon as we arrived at this lovely hotel we immediately regretted only booking one night. A fresh cool welcome drink, polite, professional, reception and concierge staff, and a beautiful old world feel give you a fabulous first impression of this hotel. The room we were given was huge and comfortable, with a nice bathroom, safe, flat screen satellite tv,... More

I stayed here for one night. Very different to more corporate hotels - had a real sense of old grandeur - perhaps a bit tired around the edges but it was still very memorable. When I stayed the demonstrations were camped directly outside the hotel - but I had no problems and if nothing else proved the hotel is 'central'... More

Paying USD 100 a night to stay in a dark room with no view, in a cheap city is normally unjustified. The Metropole has, however, a certain charm that might mitigate that rip-off feeling of having booked at last minute, especially if one stays for a short period of time and then searches for more reasonable alternatives. The hotel is... More

Hotel is hard to find, and locals are not familiar with it. From the train station it is a good walk through a lot of seedy streets. The hotel itself is on a main business street and in a very noisy traffic area. But this is Egypt, where drivers are required to honk horns constantly without any need or motivation.... More

Stayed here for 5 nights late Sept/ beginning of Oct - just turned up & paid approx £65 per night for standard room. Atmospheric, wonderful high ceilings, lots of gold paint, some period furnishings & well maintained. Wiring possiblely a bit dodgy eg our bedside lamp only worked if main lights on! after we reported it this was sorted out... More

From the moment we were greeted with a fresh lemon juice to a very quick and adept room adjustment, the staff at this historic property made you feel at home. Nice large rooms with comfortable beds was provided. Breakfast could possibly have used some additions but perhaps that is my American tastes. More
