The Swan is a good place to get a quiet night rest and enjoy a great food buffet in the morning with real coffee. The rooms are clean but a little dated and the two channel tv is small but it does the job, the bed is amazingly comfortable. The only lacking areas is the Internet which is $2+ an... More

We only had a one night stay at this hotel in Mandalay but were very disappointed. We had left our trip booking rather late so the agent had trouble finding accommodation to fit our itinerary and as a result we felt lucky to get a room. The hotel is old, and needs a lot of refurbishing or perhaps pull it... More

Room 109 was very spacious and overlooked the pool. The main bed was enormous and there was room to swing several cats in the bathroom. Plumbing was great (Armitage Shanks!) and the air-con was very effective. The sockets were UK 3 pin sockets. The pool was clean and not too busy. My only real criticism was that the staff could... From the outside, it really looks OK. But don't let that sway you. If you're lucky, you'll get an OK room. However, some of the rooms don't even have a window !! There is no wifi at all. Instead a very old computer which won't do much at all, and certainly won't connect on request. There is an OK swimming... More

I had Room 704 and wish I would have paid the extra $10 per night to upgrade to a superior room. This room had views of air conditioners and was quite small. There was also a bit of traffic noise as it fronts the street. Unfortunately, even though the picturesque Royal Palace moat is across the street, there are no... More

Stayed here recently as part of a private tour. It was uninspiring but basically comfortable. Our room, (first one from reception, ground floor,) appeared to have wiring coming direct from wall,i.e. no covering plate. It looked dangerous. We used the dining room once and we were alone apart from one other table who did not appear to be tourists. It... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a short night before taking a boat down the river to Bagan. This hotel is certainly not above average. It's got a bed, a shower, and the location is fine for food or sightseeing. It's very minimal and I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than two nights.

We stayed here for three nights whilst on a group tour with Explore. The first room we were allocated was next to the noisy hotel laundry and also huge, noisy air-con units. It was also small, grubby and smelled of cigarettes. Rooms on the front are also very noisy owing to busy road. Like many others in our group,we insisted... More

This is not a good hotel really. To get into the 'bathroom' you have to squeeze between the door and the sink into a very small grubby cubicle. If, as we did, ou have a room at the back the generator which kicks in whenever there is power cut is noisy. The reception area is misleading - the rooms are... More

Big hotel in city centre, just a few minutes from the moat (mosquito factory) around the royal palace. The rooms are of varying sizes, our group had all kinds - mine was excellent, others got small, dark unpleasant rooms. Never got to use the pool in the backyard. If you have to stay in Mandalay for one night, this hotel... More
