I was here for a long weekend with four friends and we had a wonderful time. It was in the low season and we were upgraded to first floor rooms overlooking the Mekong which was lovely. There were only one or two other groups staying and it was quiet and peaceful - just what we wanted. I would definitely recommend... more

I stayed for 4 nights and had a room overlooking the Mekong. It was not my first choice as other preferences were booked. As others have said the grounds are excellent and peaceful. The pool area is well set out and not a typical hotel pool surrounding, giving it a special feeling. If you are staying for only one or... more

The Grand has its positives and negatives: Positives >Beautiful and well maintained grounds; >Attractive architecture; >Included breakfast overlooking the Mekong River; >Friendly staff; Negatives >15 minutes to town (the hotel has limited shuttle runs and when not available, the hotel shuttle, if around, was available for a nominal charge), where there are better options; >Room service tray was not cleaned... more

The hotel - as others have said - has much going for it. Most notably, the beautiful grounds and the location on a lazy bend in the Mekong. Waking to the fog on the river and going to sleep with the sound of someone putt-putting back to their village was wonderful. We did have our challenges with service. On our... more

We just stayed at The Grand. In doing this review, I will try and give you an accurate & atmospheric description of the hotel having spent 6 years in Asia and noting some of the comments on trip advisor. The staff are without doubt charming, smiley, helpful and friendly. Our room overlooked the mighty Mekong as well as the beautiful... more

I spent 5 nights at the Grand with 10 friends to celebrate my birthday in September. It was wonderful: the rooms spacious with Balconies overlooking the beautiful Mekong. The gardens were beautifully kept, the horizon pool was large enough for 11 Australians to enjoy and the restaurant staff and food were fantastic. The trips into LP were not a problem,... more

We were offered beutiful fruit cocktails and as it was my birthday i was given a gift and our room was upgraded! The hotel and grounds were beautiful and... more

We spent a week here in early July. The hotel buildings are grand, the grounds feel expansive and are a treat for the senses -- lots of frangipanni trees, native flowering plants, lilly pads, etc. On the rainy and/or lazy days, our kids could play ping pong (covered) as well as the other games the hotel provides. We also loved... more

As soon as we arrived at this hotel and the front desk pre-charged for the three nights we were scheduled to stay there I realized that we had made a big mistake. The hotel is not in the historical center of Luang Prabang. It is about 4 miles away in the suburbs. It is too hot and too far to... more

Lovely hotel, nice rooms and beautiful grounds, with view over the Meking. But another time, I'd choose to be in the centre of Luang Prabang more
