The Grand is a delightful hotel...friendly helpful staff, beautiful grounds and swimming pool, nice restaurant and great location right along the Mekong. It is around 4 km from the center of Luang Prabang but there is a free shuttle van that runs at reasonable hours and will make special trips for US$2 person. more

I stayed at the Grand in February and enjoyed my stay there tremendously. I booked this hotel having considered two or three, in town, which were full. It turned out to be a good choice. It's only a few minutes out of the centre and the hotel runs a shuttle bus which, when we were there, ran exactly as per the published timetable. The hotel is as everyone says a fifteen minute tuc tuc or 10 min mini bus ride into Town, so what! your on holiday, chill out.
