I really liked my stay in stylish Sala Prabang. The room I got (the only one available) was quite spacious with a modern touch to the classic style. The owner is a local architect and you can feel that special attention to detail everywhere. Rooms facing the street can be noisy but have great river views. The ultra small wardrobe... more

If you stay here make sure you request a room in the main building - the rooms here are much nicer and cost the same. Ask for the 'villa' or 'cottage' only. The Lonely Planet write up of this hotel described it as having flowers on the bed etc...this wasn't our experience but it was a good hotel in a... more

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. It was clean, spacious, in a nice location, had reliable hot water and friendly service, but it is really nothing more than a glorified and overpriced guesthouse. For $75/night, it really didn't bring much to the table. We stayed another night at similar, slightly smaller guesthouse around the corner for $25. Again, nothing... more

This converted house is on the edge of the Mekong River, and conveniently close to almost everything you would want to see in the town. The rooms are small, really very small, and there is no storage for clothes except for a few coathangers behind a floor length mirror in the bathroom...which is also small. The staff and service are... more

We had a very nice stay at Sala Prabang during our recent trip to Laos. We stayed in the newest building located a few streets away from the main building, and the location was absolutely ideal! Nestled between temples and other guesthouses, the newest building is recessed from the main road just enough to allow for a sleepy and relaxed... more

We loved the hotel. The room was brand new, clean and nicely decorated. We especially appreciated the heating system! Staff was always incredibly polite. Try to request a room at the back if you can, our only problem was with the street noise (we were staying at a house on the same street as the main hotel). Despite the cold... more

We were really comfortable in our room in the building a block away from the main hotel. The room was big enough for two, the bathroom quite adequate and clean, an electric jug with tea, coffee etc and water was supplied and we had a small deck which made the room feel quite airy and light. the air con worked well.... more

Just arrived in Laos after a long tiring flight from the UK, to a wonderful, peaceful place which lived totally up to our expectations. The Sala Prabang was just the right choice - not big, not flashy, but very Loatian. Small by any standards, but set the mood perfectly for a memorable stay in Luang Prabang. No fancy stuff in... more

Having read mixed reviews, but had a wonderful description from our travel agent, and a stunning write-up in Lonely Planet, we were expecting something great. However. Our room was room 204 in the Lattana building, two doors down from the main hotel, and it was the worst room we saw in our 3 week stay in Laos and Cambodia, and... more

My wife and I stayed four nights last month at this majestic spot. Situated across the street from the Mekong River in the heart of town the setting was just perfect. There is no refrigerator or TV in the room however water is left in your room each day and there is free internet in the lobby. Breakfast is across... more
