The only really positive thing about this hotel is the location. It's perfect! It is situated in the middle of the center of Luang Prabang at the Mekong riverside. However, our room was basic and extremely noisy. It is a backpackers guesthouse and some people come "home" in the middle of the night and are sometimes drunk and make a... more

Location, I stayed in one of the buildings parallel of the street facing the river Hotels consist of various converted buildings spread around in a circle of 300 meters from the main building. Reception friendly, helpful, I needed to use the internet due to some work issues, the manager offered his desk and office as long I needed it, free... more

Very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble for them. Mekong view rooms at the front of the hotel could occasionally be slightly noisy with traffic, but at night all was quiet. Releaxed and friendly, just a few minutes walk from the centre of the relaxed and friendly town. more

Across the road from the Mekong River and a hop skip and a jump away from the main drag (5-7 mins walk), this hotel is located in a great area. The room I occupied (Room 203, I think - first floor) was of a reasonable size, clean and comfortable with a large shower room and small dressing room area. My... more

I really liked my stay in stylish Sala Prabang. The room I got (the only one available) was quite spacious with a modern touch to the classic style. The owner is a local architect and you can feel that special attention to detail everywhere. Rooms facing the street can be noisy but have great river views. The ultra small wardrobe... more

If you stay here make sure you request a room in the main building - the rooms here are much nicer and cost the same. Ask for the 'villa' or 'cottage' only. The Lonely Planet write up of this hotel described it as having flowers on the bed etc...this wasn't our experience but it was a good hotel in a... more

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. It was clean, spacious, in a nice location, had reliable hot water and friendly service, but it is really nothing more than a glorified and overpriced guesthouse. For $75/night, it really didn't bring much to the table. We stayed another night at similar, slightly smaller guesthouse around the corner for $25. Again, nothing... more

This converted house is on the edge of the Mekong River, and conveniently close to almost everything you would want to see in the town. The rooms are small, really very small, and there is no storage for clothes except for a few coathangers behind a floor length mirror in the bathroom...which is also small. The staff and service are... more

We had a very nice stay at Sala Prabang during our recent trip to Laos. We stayed in the newest building located a few streets away from the main building, and the location was absolutely ideal! Nestled between temples and other guesthouses, the newest building is recessed from the main road just enough to allow for a sleepy and relaxed... more

We loved the hotel. The room was brand new, clean and nicely decorated. We especially appreciated the heating system! Staff was always incredibly polite. Try to request a room at the back if you can, our only problem was with the street noise (we were staying at a house on the same street as the main hotel). Despite the cold... more
