Thongbay guesthouse has to be the place place to stay in Laos. During our travels in the country, we didn't find anything that compares with this hotel. We stayed there for 3 nights just 2 weeks ago. I really believe its the best place to stay in Luang Prabang. This guesthouse has stunning grounds and lovely bungalows right on the river. We enjoyed breakfast on our balcony while listening to the kids playing in the water and watching people tending their crops... really lovely. We enjoyed out stay, really nice bungalow and very friendly owners. Unfortunately it was during a very hot period (36 degrees) and there was no a/c. It did cool off a little at night. Located a little way from the town centre but overlooking the river, Thong Bay was the perfect place to relax, in the garden or on the veranda of one's cabin. This place was great. You can easily walk to the end of the road and get a tuk tuk for 10,000 kip. Or they will transport you in the van for 20,000. Food was good; water pressure strong and warm. I even swam in the river. more
