I attempted to stay at the Sayo River. Its hard for me to actually review this place as, despite having a written confirmation of my reservation for an upstairs room with a balcony, when I arrived, after a day long bus journey, they pretended the reservation didn't exist. They didnt offer a different room. They pretended I'd never made the... more

I stayed at both the Sayo River GuestHouse and the Sayo Xieng Mouane and would recommend both. The Xieng Mouane is a bit closer to the action in Luang Prabang, but he River GuestHouse is right on the Mekong. Both Nith at the river location and Sao at the Xieng Mouane went out of their way to make me feel... more

Stayed here for 3 nights, without an advance booking so we were glad we could find a room. Payed 30usd per night for a room in the quadrants next to the main building, quite expensive in my opinion. The room was basic, quite noisy, but spacious and equiped with airco, frigde, tv, hot water and housekeeping every day. No showercurtain... more

We stayed 3 nights in this guesthouse. We had a room in the ground floor, very quiet. The area is quiet just in front of a temple (that you have to cross to get to the city center) Rooms are clean, very basic though. TV was not working and lizard in the room (but i guess it is part of... more

We stayed at the Sayo River Guesthouse which is part of the Sayo group. Huge room on 1st floor with great bathroom, full size bathtub and copious hot water. Great balcony with comfortable chairs overlooking the Mekong. Very clean room, accommodating staff. but no breakfast included although free coffee/tea/water all day. However, it was expensive and for that price a... more

I loved the vintage exterior. We booked a room in the main house facing the street with a view of the Wat. There was no deposit so it was imperative for me to be in constant touch by e-mail, keeping them informed when our flight from Bangkok was delayed. Their rule was no room guarantee for late arrival. We had... more

We stayed with friends at the Sayo Guest House in Luang Prabang on a recent trip to Laos and had a great experience. We did not have reservations as we could not figure out how to communicate with them online, but just showed up and they had rooms available. The Guest House is a huge old French colonial building with... more

There are now three Sayo estblishments- this one was located on river and is known as sayo river guesthouse. I booked in advance by internet and no problems with the booking. The location on the river was great - short walk into town and near to all attractions. I opted for a downstairs room $30 US a night- they no... more

Beautiful quiet, location but still only a stroll from the rivers, main street shops, restaurants and night market. Attentive staff and well-maintained rooms. No complaints - really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended. more

Sayo Riverside is well located on the riverfront in Luang Prabang. At $50 per night our room was overpriced (stick with the $40 rooms). Both mornings the lights in our room fused in the bathroom leaving us showering in the dark. After a long and unpleasant discussion the manager gave us a $5 per night discount. I would pay the... more
