I am very surprised that this is Lonely Planets reccommended hotel in their Lebanon guide. Yes it is 'atmospheric' and frankly pretty weird but at $50 a night to have no hot water morning or evening is too basic. It's actually rather creepy at night especially with no other guests around and the view of the ruins isn't that special.... more

We checked in to room 30 late morning, one of us washed some underwear in the sink and used part of one hand towel in drying. Both of us used the bathroom to pee, then we went to internet cafe for one hour. On return we enquired about the lack of hot water and were told that we could choose... more

The hotel is located right next to the temple. The rooms are clean, however there is often no warm water and no electricity, which causes this hotel to be overpriced at $50/single. The heating stove in the room does not suffice even for only mildly cold nights, so bring lots of warm clothing if staying here outside of summer. more

To be honest - the hotel is quite old and really not comfortable. But the atmosphere!!! It was a 5-Star-Hotel - 50 years ago. Today, everything ist rugged and faded, but you can still see (before your inner eye) the former glamour and majesty! But do not visit this hotel in winter, as the heaters they placed in the rooms... more

The Palmyra hotel is part of the Baalbeck legend. One of the oldest hotels in Lebanon, it received prestigious guests such as Ella Fitzgerald, Herbert von Karajan, Mstislav Rostropovitch and Maurice Bejart. The propery faces the ruins with a stunning view on some of the world's most beautiful Roman Temples. By night, when the monuments are illuminated, it is simply... more

We have been real fans of this unique hotel but were extremely disappointed during our last stay. The owners thought they can double the price (100$ for a double room) while let the hotel go almost in ruin. The fuel stove in the room was smelly, the toilet flush was not working and there was no hot water. We really... more

Best view of the ruins. Beutyfull old hotel with Orient Express feel. Stayed one night and we will soon come back. Spent the most wonderfull evening sitting in the garden eating meze and drinking Chateau Musar (Lebanons top wine) The room is decorated with art by Jean Cocteau (famous surrealist). One of the best deals in Lebanon if it is... more

We came back to the hotel and stayed as we had promised to when we came for lunch last year. Apart from the cold (Baalbeck is surprisingly high) we had a great stay. The atmosphere was wonderfully old-fashioned, the art really interesting, and our room was fine. The only complaint was the lack of hot water. But the food was... more

We were considering staying at this hotel but we saw the entrance and agreed we would not proceed any further inside. I think it was not helpful that the road outside was being resurfaced but the hotel looked very dusty and dirty. The signs PALMYRA outside the hotel were broken and had not been replaced. more
