I wrote to the manager before this review, hoping to have a meeting of the minds, to no avail. The issues were not language or even culture, but feeling gouged and misled. There were several issues related to trips, costs and timing. We went to this part of Belize, primarily to got to Crooked Tree Reserve, a renowned Bird refuge.... more

Although, Maruba is tucked away in a secluded part of the country, spending a night or two is definitely worth it. My bf and I stayed for 3 nights/4 days and really enjoyed being pampered by the staff, relaxing by the pool, and going on private tours by one of their very knowledgeable guides. Yes, the resort is located in... more

My husband and I got married on Ambergris Caye and then booked a honeymoon package at Maruba for after the wedding. We were very sad to leave AC, but that didn't last long when we arrived at Maruba. Let me preface all comments by saying we are a couple in our late 20s/early 30s from the east coast. Our package... more

We travel the world and there are few places like Maruba. To say it's different is an understatement! We first visited in June '99 for an anniversary trip and fell in love with the place. Went back for our fifth time in June '07.Hard to explain but you have to experience it. If you like getting romantic in seclusion this... more

We stayed at Maruba for three days, in a Jungle Suite. The peace and tranquility was shattered by constant music blaring from the front lobby all day long. When ordering dinner, there was no menu to review. If you're on a budget WATCH OUT; the wait staff have memorized menu along with the prices, so you cannot discreetly pick and... more

This is my ideal hotel. A little rustic, off the beaten path, but plenty of creature comforts and character. Warning: there were several representations of male genitalia and so forth (i.e. wood carvings) so this place is not for the prudish! The room was adorable, kitchy. My husband thought it was a bit much so it's probably a matter of... more

We stayed at Maruba July 2007. I was scared to death. We were only in Belize for a short period of time so we wanted to make sure that our experience was a good one. Our trip was planned very last minute (in less than a week) and the mixed reviews were frustrating. I am terrified of snakes and the... more

My husband and I stayed in a suite at Maruba for two nights. We had a very good time. We paid for a transfer from the airport and arrived at the resort. We were able to have massages that afternoon and schedule activities for our stay. The hotel staff is wonderful and so helpful. The airline lost a suitcase, and... more

The resort provided wonderful personal service. I felt very pampered while there. It is a beautiful oasis in the bush and near to Mayan ruins we wanted to see. Both pools are really quite gorgeous to behold. We came over with a tour from Ambergris Caye and stayed the night before heading out to the Cayo District. The couples mud... more

I visited my son who lives in San Pedro, Belize early March. This was my second trip to Belize. I had a few free days and decided to go to Maruba until he and I could go to Guatemala for some hiking. I was enchanted with the entire Maruba experience. As a world traveler, I am quite particular about where... more
