With so many glossy, glitzy hotels to choose from, we looked for something with character and found it here. Situated on the first floor of an old colonial building, the hotel has a large central communal area, and wide open verandahs overlooking the river. The rooms themselves are minute and one has to turn sideways to get around the double... more

I arrived in Siem Reap to begin a 10 month work placement and this place was recommended to me by a friend. My aim was to stay somewhere reasonably cheap, clean and safe in order get a feel for the town and look for a place to rent on my own. What I experienced at Shadow of Angkor way exceeded... more

The room they gave us had no window. Though in other respects it appeared functional. For $5 more we got a window and a balcony. That's when things got better. It's not the cheapest, and breakfast is not included, and they do want to sell you trips all the time. But, making our own choices, it gave us a very... more

We stayed at Shadow II (about 5 min walk from the original Shadow I) and for US$20/day you can not ask for more. The deluxe room is of high standards - very clean, well appointed and well maintained. The hotel staff are courteous, helpful and speak English. The location is quiet at night for you to rest after touring temples... more

It seems that if you want to be treated kindly by this people, you have to spend all your money there (having breakfast, renting a bike...) If you decide doing this somewhere else, they are not happy anymore. The owners are stingy and had very bad manners in many occasions. In fact they were the worst staff I've ever met.... more

Spent 7 months in Cambodia 2008, stayed in alot of hotels. This hotel (guesthouse), is not to be confused with the one in the old market. We are currently staying here for expected 6 months, volunteering. This hotel is in easy walking distance to the old market and entertainment. This is a new building and the rooms are more than... more

We stayed 5 nights in Shadow of Angkor 11 (two) and loved it. It is a new guest house in a quiet part of Siem Reap. It is across the river from the original Shadow and is not listed as a separate hotel to the original shadow for some reason. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom. There... more

This was a great place for us to stay for 6 nights in October. The room was reasonable sized with a big double bed with a huge heavy carved head board. It also came with aircon and a TV with few English language movie channels. Cost was reasonable. The room was clean and they did our laundry for us, a... more

We are currently staying at ''Shadow of Angkor Guesthouse I''. Even though there is nothing special about the guesthouse, it's clean and simple and the location is ideal. Only a short walk to the Old Markets and Pub Street which has all the great little restaurants and bars. Haven't had any issues so far although they do offer free internet... more
