We spent one night here. Happily, there was a problem with the original room we were assigned, which was small. We were upgraded to a lovely suite. The hotel is on the main plaza and just blocks from the wharf area, where some of the better restaurants are located. It is in an historic building and is well decorated with... More

We chose this hotel among others recco'd by our tour company - geographic expeditions - for its historic charm. We like hotels with a sense of place ...but like up market comforts. This hotel - the home of an early pioneer , all rooms are different - is right on the square, walking distance to the cemetary (go!!) and 20... More

because it was recommended by fodors and trip advisor reviewers, we chose to stay here for two nights over winter break. while the room was spacious and nice with a very comfortable bed, it fronted the main street which was very busy. it was quite warm in the rooms, but we couldn't open the windows because of constant motorcycles, dogs... The guide book we had said this was an expensive hotel but if you had the money well worth it. My wife and have been traveling around South America now for six weeks and staying In places across the spectrum. On a whim we stopped in to just see if they had a room and how much it cost. For... More

The whole building is fantastic with some absolutely beautiful architectural gems. The wind though seems to add to the noises made by old buildings. The espresso machine never seemed to be on-but as there were some excellent cafes within a short distance, this wasn't too big an issue. The wifi worked OK for me. Loved the setting, especially the dining... More

Wonderful old building with lovely foyer and conservatory to eat in. The food was good but wifi a bit dicey. The hotel was close to the main square and lovely streets nearby to walk around. Our room was fight at the top and as there was a high wind sometime it felt as if the roof was blowing off but... More

This hotel is adjacent to the main plaza. It is the choice location to stay and the president of Argentina stayed here to provide an indication of it's standing. The rooms were very spacous, Walk in robe, separate bathroom, Original timber trim and windows and concertina timber shutters. 14 foot ceilings. Gorgeous breakfast / dining room in a glass dome... Fortunately we only had to stay there only one night. We were two couples and booked a suite. We were lucky to have one but our friends had a room that was so small they even couldn't open their suitcase. Htel was apparabtly fully booked so they had to stay in their room. The next morning we saw many rooms... More

Let me start by commending the staff here, particularly Carlos on Reception, who went out of his way to resolve any issues, including making calls to help us to re-arrange a trip, which was in no way the responsibility of the hotel. Also, when we protested about room 301 (a twin room which was far too small for 2 people... More

The reception manager went out of his way to track down our transfer provider for the next section of our trip. Our phone numbers out of date, he made 6 calls finally tracking them down. The room was small but fine for our one night stay. Try a snack in the Shackleton bar & visit the museum attached. In the... More
