We gathered a group of 9 friends for a long weekend trip to Chengdu, and decided to forgo the usualy luxuries of a Sheraton or Hyatt type hotel and try this little inn because the photos on its website rouse my curiosity. It is built like an old Chinese inn from centuries back. The rates are really cheap at about... more

We stayed here for just over a week with a side trip to Juizhaighou organised through the hotel. Qintai street was just fantastic. You have got to try the hotpot fungi restaurant over the road. No, it's not too spicy! Two lovely parks are very close 1 over the road and the other at the end of the street. The... more

The Wen Jun Mansion Hotel is one of those little gems that makes travel in China so much fun. Located in an attractive (fake?) ancient streetscape and built around a small courtyard, every room has a balcony with a table & chairs. The huge rooms are tastefully furnished with heavy traditional furniture. The staff are wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable. Pluses:... more

The Wen Jun is certainly an interesting place to stay. It's located on Qintai Street, a modern recreation of an old Tang dynasty street, full of restaurants and jewellers. It's well lit, spacious and, like everywhere else I went in China, felt very safe. You get to the hotel itself through a small arch, leading to a courtyard with bar... more

Good Value.....not sure what people on trip advisor expect for $35/40. Deposit system is weird..... after paying for ALL nights in full, upon check-in, you have to put down a deposit (the more nights, the bigger the deposit????) Also a deposit for the electronic safe??? Next door is travel bureau, with free maps. Buffet breakfast eggs were stone cold, and... more

My wife and I stayed at the Wenjun solely based on the reviews on tripadvisor. We stayed 4 nights, and had mixed feelings about the hotel. We had originally booked a western style room ( double/twin - cant remember), but when we checked in, the reception staff ( lovely people) said that they had upgraded us to a family room,... more

This is a downscale budget hotel. The cost is cheap. Rooms are clean but sparse with a computer in the room if you need it. The beds are the usual hard Chinese beds. There is no elevator so be ready to walk up the stairs. Rooms here range from dorms style to private rooms. The room I had was a... more

The hotel initially denied they had received my payment but when I sent through my confirmation from Paypal they siad they had received it. I... more

I have just returned from travelling all over China as a single parent traveller with my 7 year old daughter. In all of our stays and stops, Wenjun was the best accomodation. The staff were helpful and efficient. The level of English was also very good. I reserved a room through their website knowing approximately when I would arrive, but... more
