Most other hotels in Cartagena are much more expensive, and even the ones of same price or more in the sketchier area Getsemani (outside the walls) looked less appealing. So I thought El Viajero (Calle Porvenir! There is another one too, but mind street name Porvenir) was excellent value for money. Paid COP 80,000 (US$40) per night for a double... More

I have long time to don't be able to visit the beautiful city of Cartagena de Indias, I used to live over there and finally I got the chance to visit it again after 16 years, living here in Europe. I can telling you openly and honestly, if you don't want to spend a lot of money and stay and... More

We stayed in Hotel Viajero for 4 nights and it was fine. The A/C and fans worked great; they even had a TV in the room. There was also a lock-box (need to bring your own lock that's big enough to fit or you could find one on the street). It was super great to walk around the city and... More

Stayed here for two nights, front desk staff friendly, rooms are pretty basic almost which u would get in a nicer hostel if you got a private room....except a bit more expensive than one. Nice and quiet location, things were clean, nice staff, and still in old town colombia

I stayed here for 3 nights and each night had horrible sleep. The first night the power went out at 4 am and could hear the staff talking outside for 2 hours with no consideration for guests. Second night I had my light on and tv on and was in my towel when someone knocked on my door at 1am..... More

We also made the mistake of going to the hostel first (loudest music on earth!) before actually working out it wasn't our hotel. Funny enough the hostel charges about 30,000 COP more for a private room than the hotel does, strange.... The hotel was great value, it was in a good location and the staff were happy and more than... More

For about $30USD (60,000COP) a night for a double bed room in the heart of Cartagena, this hotel cannot be beat. Excellent and safe location, friendly staff, free WIFI make this place a steal.

It seems that nobody who posted reviews here knows there's a difference between the Hostel and the Hotel. The HOTEL EL VIAJERO is NOT the hostel. This is a very nice hotel, located in the Centro (and not in Getsemaní), with extremely clean rooms and probably the best value for money in Cartagena. A double with private bathroom (Fan/AC) will... We arrived and were taken to a different building some 30m down the street where the twins and double rooms are, consequently it is a lot quieter there but a bit less social. The rooms are small but nicely decorated, have a TV and a comfy bed, however they only have ceiling fans which are loud and only have one... More

This was a hotel in a tripful of hostels. The location is great and the price was decent, though we found everything in Cartagena to be more expensive than in other parts of Colombia. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean compared to the other places we stayed on our 3 week trek through Colombia. We stayed in the room... More
