I went to Medellin in the month of June, 2008 and my company had booked me and my colleagues in Hotel Leblon. Leblon is right in the center of the city in Medellin's uptown area called El Poblado.
Staff here is very very cordial and warm. You could ask for anything on this earth and they will do their best to arrange the thing for you. Most of the staff doesn't speak english but the receptionists do speak a lot of english. You can route your orders through them and they oblige every time.
Rooms are good with a big nice balcony though there's not much of a view. Try to opt for the room on the side away from the main road as rooms towards the main road can get a bit noisy during the day because of the traffic. Every room has an attached pantry stocked with utensils, microwave, hot plates, etc. etc. Infact the pantry is big enough to be called a kitchen only and not a pantry.
The only thing I did not like about the hotel is that the rooms are not well lighted...
