This place is simply magical. I absolutely loved staying here. Seaside rooms have the most magnificent view, and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The decor oozes nostalgic, faded glory which, if restored, would look unbelievable, but in its unrestored state still looks fabulous and remains within a reasonable price range.
As others have commented, the hotel is spotlessly clean, though bed linen is old - again, spotlessly clean, though. Would only upset you if you were really fussy. Location is a little noisy, but again this isn't extreme, and is one of the small sacrifices to make for the best hotel location in town.
Food is taken at the main hotel (to which the Amalia is an annexe), the Kvarner. This hotel tells a similar tale to the Amalia, though its magnificence is even greater, with the dining room, an elaborately decorated crystal ballroom, a tourist attraction in its own right.
