There are not a lot of overnight lodging options in Abu Simbel, but this hotel is a decent, if expensive, option in town. Eskaleh is a peaceful and quiet place that feels like a mix of a Nubian home stay and an African safari lodge. The hotel is located just off the main road through town (Temple to Airport road),... It would be worth staying at Eskaleh even if it weren't at Abu Simbel--but if you're really after the temples, Eskaleh makes that better too. All the great things about the place aside, just for logistical reasons staying at Eskaleh makes it easier to enjoy Abu Simbel. You avoid the mid-day heat and busloads--the three of us had the monuments... More

We stayed one night in the superior room with good A/C. The place was neat (Nubian style) and staff were friendly. One could see Lake Nasser from the roof top. It was good that there were mosquito nets in the room although it was kind of weird to have two nets for one big bed. Basically, the big bed was... More

If you are going to Abu Simbel, it is worth it spend a night so that you can see the temple at dawn. And the Eskaleh Lodge is a great place to treat yourself to. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the building and grounds are beautiful and the food is wonderful. Plus, the staff is very friendly and helpful.A... More

Our Tour Operator recommended this Ecolodge and we could not have been happier. Unfortunately we only had one night here and wished we had been able to stay longer. The food was absolutely delicious the chicken tagine was too die for - I did try to get the recipe but was assured this was secret..... Our room was large and... More

We (my boyfriend and I plus 2 friends) stayed for 1 night at Eskaleh and absolutely fell in love with the place and its setting. The meals were great as well and the staff made us feel welcome. Everything had been going smoothly until it was time to pay for the 1hr boat ride. According to Lonely Planet's Egypt 2012... More

!Absolutely the biggest secret of all Egypt-this place is a fantastic small hotel and restaurant. Our small group enjoyed one of the finest meals we have had in all of Egypt this evening after the Sound & Light show. Hospitable, friendly, beyond wonderful food--we didn't want to return to Cairo! We thought we should just take up personal residency....it was... More

If you are going to Abu Simbel, I recommend that you stay at least one night in order to see the light and sound show during the evening and the two temples during the sunrise. The Abu Simbel temples are within walking distance (20 minutes). The dinner was excellent and the main dish (fish tagine) probably the best meal we... More

Sadly we only had the time to stay one night with Fikri and his very hospitable team at the Eskaleh Eco Lodge. To say they looked after us superbly would be an understatement... The atmosphere was friendly, the staff helpful, the food very good - and plentiful... plus, any question you had, they went out of their way to help.... More

If you are traveling to Abu Simbel to see the Temple of Ramses II, take the extra time and spend at least one night at Eskalah Lodge. Your host, Fekri, cooks wonderful food from his organic gardens and you will have the opportunity to hear Nubian music playing in the background as you dine and relax in the lodge and... More
