Savoy Sharm El Sheikh We have over the years been to Egypt many times staying in Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Makadi bay and now Sharm El Sheikh. This hotel and location for us has been the best so far, the hotel is clean, the staff are all friendly and willing to put themselves out for the guests, the beach reef is one of the best we have had for the easy of access and the sheer number and diversity of the reef. Savoy hotel: It was exceptionally clean and tidy throughout, the cleaner for the room (2217) Mahmoud was very good in asking every day if we needed anything else, he was always smiling and would greet you each time we saw him, morning or evening, and the room was always spotless. We have never in all the hotels we have been to, seen a Beach toilet so clean and tidy, the cleaners were exceptional in keeping this looking as it did, often the beach toilets, just because of where they are, are a little messy with wet feet full of sand continually entering them, but the one on the main beach was always completely clean, no matter when you used them. The Gardeners were always out early, tending the grounds, and making sure the paths were all clean and washed down. The reception staff were always helpful if you had to go and see them, and they greeted you with a smile and” how can we help”. Food and restaurants: The service was always outstanding, but special mentions must go to Hany (restaurant manager) who, made us feel like VIP’s, he was very good at engaging with all the clients. He has a great and hard working team and in particular we would like to mention Medhat who always had a smile and jokey banter which we really enjoyed. We visited all the restaurants in our week at the hotel, all were well presented and clean and different in design. The main negative for us was that although the food served was cooked well, the overall integrity and authenticity of the food style/menu at each restaurant could be much better. We were lucky enough (after expressing dome disappointment with the Greek meze) to try a couple of special Greek dishes made by the sous chef Motasem which were truly excellent and should be added to the menu or to be offered as a dish of the day. The same could be said at each of the restaurants. Beach bar and beach staff: We spent most of our time on the beach. What a great team work on the beach. The bar staff always pleased to serve you, smiling and happy, the guys that come to take orders from the beach always on the look out for who needs a drink, and friendly to the customers, again with a smile. The Life guards, not only look out for the people who are in the water, but I often saw them also picking up any bits of litter that had been normally taken out the bins by the birds, and putting this back in the bin, and tidy up anything that was out of place, at the end of the day they put all the beds back, and then do litter picks. So much more than just keeping an eye on people in the water. Special mention must go to (Tyson) he interacts with all the guests on the beach in a variety of different languages which was very impressive and he should be commended for that! Every day he would see us and nothing was to much to ask for, always smiling and very good at cleaning your sunglasses! Pool area and pool Bar: We only spent the last day by the pool, it was clean, this was well laid out and the staff again looked after you, I saw many of them assisting with towels and beds for the guests during the day, the guys came round regularly to ask if you needed a drink. The 2 heated pools were pleasant (we have been to some in Egypt that are not heated in the winter months, and are colder than the sea, so this was very nice to have) The pool area is busier than the beach we found, but it did not feel too crowded at all. The pool bar guys were all good and smiled, engaged with the guests as well. Guest relation: Many hotels don’t do this, but at the Savoy, we were asked and spoken to at least 3 times in person while staying, this is very good, it shows the hotel does care what the guests think and are willing to go out and ask them, face to face. We also had a couple of calls to the room from them asking if we needed anything else, it certainly made you feel like they cared about your enjoyment during your stay with them at the Savoy. In a Nut Shell: The best hotel we have stayed at in Egypt so far, the staff are a credit to the hotel, is was so clean throughout, Quick transfer from the airport. The only thing I would say, if you struggle with steps, you may find this a bit of a problem due to the layout of the hotel, it has a lot of steps if you are in one of the higher up rooms (cracking views mind you) The hotel does have a lift, in the middle of the hotel, so if you cannot use the steps then you would want a room closer to the mid point so you can access the lift without a walk, this did not bother us, but for some it may do. Other than that, a cracking good hotel, with a good snorkelling, and good staff. We enjoyed our stay a lot, and will return again.…
