We visited Gambia in December and stayed at the Palma Rima Hotel. We did not enjoy our stay as we were constantly hassled by bumsters hanging around outside the hotel and also if we ventured the short distance to the beach you were constantly being asked to buy this or that. The "security" did nothing to discourage them from annoying... more

I just come back from Gambia from Palma Rima hotel. Before I went away I read few really negative opinions and I really don’t understand why?! The hotel was great. I stayed in the main block and my room was spacious and clean. The towels been change every day and the bedding was change 3 times in the week. The... more

As it got closer to the time we were getting more & more hesitant about Palma Rima! After spending two weeks there half board I will say that the staff are fantastic, the accomodation is cleaned daily. Most staff will try to get to know you, probably hoping to become your special friend! It is a poor country with the... more

This was our 2nd visit having stayed at The Palma Rima the same time last year also. We enjoyed it last year and again enjoyed it this year. We were Half Board and thought the evening food was nice last year but this year, this was not the case. It was often cold and undercooked and on the Saturday, they... more

I Would only recommend this hotel to a friend if they only had a short.amount of money. i did like the scenary and the pool , and also the service, & cleaners would come up everyday to clean. But the breakfast in the mornings was terrible. it tasted horrbile and made me feel ill for days. more

Read all the reviews, spoilt the buildup to the hoilday, however pleasantly suprised when we got there. Rooms basic but clean and tidy. Entertainment was highly amusing reminded me of "it aint half hot mum" Hassled quite a lot by the Bumsters but they leave you alone after a coupleof days once you become a familiar face(remember these are poor people just... more

Had B&B only - that was enough - Mixed Grill - Mixed with what ? unable to eat that I tried the porridge - just like stale wallpaper paste. Best bet for food is to get out of the hotel and try anywhere else. I have now been to The Gambia 7 times - if you can, pay that little... more

I have travelled to many different countries on my own, this was my first time in The Gambia. I wasn't expecting great luxury as it is a third world country. I could live with the poor cleanliness and the pityful breakfast!! I could even live with the bumsters, I even made friends with a few. Yes you have to be... more
