We have visited Goa 7 times previously, but had never stayed in Basic accommodation.
And, basic it certainly was. We were shown to our rooms on arrival and wondered what we'd booked. The bathroom was overlooked by the room next door, so we had to improvise and make a make shift curtain to cover the grill in the bathroom window. The hot & cold water worked most of the time. We asked for a fridge in the room, and were charged the equivalent of £2 per night for this. The fridge was a right rusty monster of a thing. The room was kept clean by the room boy and towels and bedding changed frequently. The window had gaps round it which let the mosquitos in.
We only ate breakfast at the guesthouse twice, as the service was very slow, even for just toast and coffee.
Our first night there - we decided on an early night as we were absolutly shattered from the travelling. There to greet us on our return was Maria, in a see through pink nightie and what looked like a cow...
