The Tower House is a historic and atmospheric hotel. It is comfortable, cool and spacious. It has one of the best swimming pools in Fort Kochi, which we made ample use of during our extended three week stay! The staff are professional and friendly and always keen to help. The hotel is in a perfect location for the sights of... More

The perfect place to stay in Fort Cochin. The hotel is right in the middle of the buzz of the area yet inside the hotel it is calm and serene. It is easy to walk around the sights or pick up a rickshaw then when you get too hot, nip into the hotel to cool down in the pool or... More

The location of the this heritage property (a non hotel, hotel) is really good, right on the fishing nets, walking distance from all major tourist attractions. Good service and amazing and friendly staff. The main attraction was the artifacts and the interiors of the hotel. The cleanliness was superb, could not find a spec of dirt any where.

Great hotel. Lots of atmosphere. Lovely to have breakfast in the garden. We stayed in the Braganza room which is huge with hardly any noise from the park in front of the hotel. Water boiler in room so that you can make your own tea or coffee, something which you don't often get in India. Nice pool.

The location, just opposite the iconic Chinese fishing nets, cannot be bettered. The building itself is elegant and charming and you feel as if you are living in an old colonial residence. We stayed in the Braganza room which was enormous with a great bathroom and because the room looked out onto a side street, it was quiet. The staff... More

The Tower House is located on the waterfront, the Chinese fishing nets in front and the lanes of Fort Kochi behind it. A 17th century building restored a couple of years ago is excellently priced for its location and ambience compared to the many boutique hotels around Fort Kochi. Staff were excellent, helpful and informative; the upstairs private rooms are... More

The manager Mustaq spent 2 hours helping us with suggestions and bookings for a trip around Kerala - including homestays and a driver. He was extremely patient and positive. In my entire stay in Kerala, this is the only other hotel that was openly honest with us and upfront about their prices. Because of our last minute booking, they informed us during our reservation that we had to change rooms to a more costly room. Breakfast is generous and tasty. Mosquitoes are plentiful which is the norm in Cochin... More

Virtually on the harbour at historic Fort Cochin and thus very close to some of the iconic Chinese fishing nets, this colonial style, small hotel has lots going for it. Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Tower House sits facing the Chinese fishing nets, marking the spot of a 17th century light house and hence the name. Cannon balls once fired out from its thick bastion-walls. The scallop-walled twin-house looks rather like a ship. And indeed, boats were brought in on high tide and parked downstairs in its stable and dry dock! Since 1982, it is owned by Peirce Leslie. The character of The Tower House lies in its unpretentious yet proud bearing, almost grandfather like, it sits looking out over the sea, a spirit of adventure surrounds it even today, taking one back to stories of high seas told and retold over centuries. Stately colonial pillars hold up its vast high-ceilinged halls. The generous arched doors welcoming one to step in to another world where time stretches, pauses to watch the sun set and then moves ever so lightly towards dawn. Yes it’s the magic of spaces that have seen more history than we will ever see, spaces that we know will still be there to delight those who come long after us.The furniture is an eclectic mix with no attempt to recreate rooms of any one era or type because the structure was added on to. It’s the light pouring in through the windows, skylights and the vastness of the indoor spaces that make for an unforgettable experience. Most of the rooms have large four poster beds, and bathrooms that happily accommodate, large tubs and windows that have views of the trees or the sea depending on where they are located. It’s been restored to be compatible with present day needs while maintaining its structural integrity. It reflects different periods rather than artificially being faithful to any single one. It takes you back in time, moods and memories woven together create a fabric that is strong but sits ever so lightly. The above uncompromising principles of practical use of material and form dictated The Tower House renovation too and it is adherence to these very values of being honest to the time we live in while respecting the past that has set new standards in heritage tourism.Discover the old world charm where, sailors, travellers, traders, planters feasted and danced under chandeliers, suspended from high wooden ceilings. ... more   less
