the hotel is beautiful from the outside and the reception area is lovely but that's where it ends. The rooms are dingy and old, old. the bathroom was terrible, no plug in the sink, the shower was cold both at night and in the morning, no bathmat, no hairdryer and the TV was useless. the lights kept going out and... more

Cautious of the remarks regarding this hotel, I let the Travel Agent book me in. First off I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I think it important to mention that the management currently run a training scheme for staff studying hotel management. There were few guests staying there presumably because of the Western financial crisis but I think... more

Apparently this hotel used to have a good reputation. They are quick to show you photos of Princess Anne staying there 15 years ago. It is a beautiful building and could be so nice. But the first room they showed us had bare wires hanging from the walls, no fan and the air conditioning didn't work. We found the bar... more

The Lonely Planet guidebook was accurate in that it describes this haveli as amazing. However, it simply isn't a hotel in any sense of the word. The building is interesting, but completely mismanaged. The staff couldn't have been less interested in our arrival, and we were shown to a really dingy room, with battered alterations to accommodate newer fittings. Everything... more

We were a group of 24 who decided to welcome 2008 at Jaisalmer and unfortunately the travel agent booked us at 'Narayan Niwas Palace'. In simple words: The Heritage property status of this property should be withdrawn immediately. This is a VERY POOR representation of Indian Heritage Food - I don't think that people will appreciate the words that I... more

The outside and the huge courtyard of this hotel are absolutely charming. However, once you finaly check-in (and that may take a long, long time) you'll find out that the rooms are far to the back of the building, in another more recent and far less inspiring building. Still this place could be wonderful. The bar area in particular is... more

We briefly visited the hotel during our 1-week holiday in Radjasthan because we considered booking the hotel for friends. After our visit we were convinced that this is not a place where you would like to spend the night. The staff at the reception was very unfriendly and not very interested. Perhaps this had to do with the fact that... more

As you enter this hotel, your expectations are lifted. Sadly the rooms do not live up to expectations. The rooms are set off of long dark corridors toward the back of the structure. Not only is the corridor dark, but our room on the second floor was as well. Do look at the attached pictures showing the views from our... more

The building is certainly absolutely charming. However, the rooms are very bad for the price : - Bathroom : Dark, scaled painting and refuge of many insects. - No window giving on outside, therefore very dark room. - failing electricity - very poor decoration - very noisy air-conditioning The bed linen was doubtful. It seemed to us that cloths had... more
