We stayed at the Anola as part of our Darjeeling-Sikkim Travel. The hotel is basic, but very friendly. You feel at home the moment you enter. The staff is very attentive and helpful. They welcome you with freshly brewed tea. The location on M.G. Marg, the business part of town, is ideal. The street is closed to traffic from 4.30 p.m. until after 8.00 p.m. for pedestrians. The shops offer mainly what local people need and are not just for tourists. You find a lot of restaurants nearby. If you arrive with a jeep with West Bengal number plates (e.g. from Darjeeling or Kalimpong), you have to change into a local taxi for the drive to you hotel. Sikkim is taxfree and has local liquor distilleries and beer breweries, thus alcohol is very much available at low costs.
