I didn't like this hotel at all.... I booked a room for three people and first I was given a room with only 2 single beds, then they moved me to another room with a double and a single. This room was so dirty, there were cobwebs everywhere, the bathroom smelled and their was sand in the bed! After becoming... more

I said a few hotel names she said "The 2nd" one(which was Tjampuhan)My friends joined me VERY last minute(cheap flights 1st time to Bali)I had 2weeks... more

The Hotel Tjampuhan is living on its reputation as one of the oldest hotels in Bali - and it shows! The rooms are dowdy and the bathrooms are shabby and dirty. The tiled floors throughout were cracked, shabby and the grout was dirty. That the hotel is badly-managed is evident. We had stayed there before and requested rooms near the... more

After staying at other similar priced accommodation in Bali we felt we could have done much better than stay at the Hotel Tjampuhan. Yes, the setting, gardens and friendly staff are positives but our room was obviously in the part that hadn't been renovated yet. Our balcony was overlooked by others on either side and we did not feel a... more

We stayed at the original Walter Spies house which was a two story balinese house. It was spacious enough for the 4 of us but the narrow stairs would be hard for some people to use. The bathroom was large and a bit dated. The outside porch was great to sit and watch the world go by. There were no... more

When you step off the plane and into Bali's air, it is for me (and my wife) a spiritual experience.Likewise when you arrive at the Hotel Tjampuhan, you are greeted with a fragrant cooling towel and a lovely beverage, followed by the sight ,the smell, the sounds. Then somthing strange, you realize your as far from home as you could be,yet your closer... more

We had booked four nights at this hotel and were very disappointed to be informed on arrival there had been a 'computer glitch' and we had to stay somewhere else for 2 nights. The hotel they moved us to was very grotty. We had paid for 3-star accommodation and ended up with 1-star. The Tjampuhan gave us a free dinner... more

I must admit after reading the tripadvisor reviews on this hotel that I did look for alternate options just prior to our departure to Bali. Though given that we were travelling in peak season, we were unable to find alternate accommodation. Our expectations were low and we were expectant of many stairs, mouldy bathrooms and unfriendly staff. Luckily for us,... more

We have just returned from 5 days at this Hotel and were initially rather disappointed. It is badly in need of some TLC, the decor is faded (literally) and the bathroom though spacious was full of mold and cracked tiles. there is no fridge or coffee making facilities in the rooms but you can ask for them, but it depends... more

The Hotel is fairly old which was ok. It is traditional balinese style which I loved and the hotel nestled in the steep part of the Tjampuhan river is so beautiful. The spa is something else the way the carvings and rock pools have been set out is a must to see. Tea and coffee would have been great in... more
