We had a wonderful stay in a beautifully decorated french country style suite featuring a fully equipped kitchen with hot plate and water urn for the Sabbath, elegantly styled marble floors with shower-bath.It was walking distance to everything and we wish we had stayed longer. The Synagogues and the Artists and the Ambiance are worth more than just 2 days. It was hard to find them on the internet - and they don't really include breakfast. They can provide you with vouchers for breakfast at a tourist hotel (at a price.) We were invited to Dinner the first night and Lunch on the 2nd day by friends of the family that lived about 15 - 20 flights of stairs down from where we stayed in the old city. and then up 5 flights to the apartment! It was a Friday night so driving wasn't an option. We just took it slow and had a memorable weekend.

It was tastefully furnished and the beds were extremely comfortable with thick doonas and an abundance of blankets (essential as it was mid winter there), and the central heating was very effective. We were pleasantly surprised that the reality definitely matched the pictures on their website, and it was wonderful to have an apartment as opposed to just a hotel room. As a family of 4 it was much more cost effective than 2 rooms in a hotel and there was an extra folding bed if necessary. It is managed by an English speaker which was a great advantage to us and... more
