well, first the bad news: it's not inside the old city of safed but on a mountain just before entering the city.
it takes about 15 minutes to walk (we found a shortcut) to the old city or a 2 minute drive.
that said, i have nothing but good things to say about this place:
it's a private house on a cliff with great views of mount. meron.
they have five rooms located around a very charming central communal area with a wood burning fireplace and a quiet reading area with many books (most of them in hebrew). we stayed in one of the suites that was very big and had a semi private balcony (shared with the other suite) overlooking the beautiful view.
they have many sitting corners outside next to authentic looking waterfalls and fish ponds or at the edge of the cliff.
the place is very high up and it's colder there than in other parts of israel so it was a bit chilly to sit outside but i guess in the summer it must be very nice.
