I just spent two amazing nights at the newly refurbished La Desirade in southern Mahe. The beachfront location is truly unique with a convenience store 5min walk away. The four apartments are contemporarily designed, effortlessly blending into the mesmerizing ocean setting. Each apartment has a large kitchenette, comfortable double bed and relaxing lounge. The bathrooms are spacious with a large walk in shower. The host was so friendly and welcoming and the staff were so attentive, making sure the place was spotless. I warmly recommend this place for couples or families (the sofa doubles up as a large single bed) and would personally return in a heartbeat.

I booked through a 3rd party but was in contact by mail with the owner. I told her I was arriving at night, she said there would be someone to welcome me at the property on arrival. I asked what address shall I give to the taxi, she told me pointe au del and the taxi would know it. On arrival into Seychelles the customs asked where I was staying, I showed them the address given and they said this was an area of the island not an address, they called the PH number the owner gave me and it was turned off. They very kindly let me into the country once I had proved it was paid for. I then showed the taxi driver the picture and location of the property and as luck has it after talking with another taxi guy he knew of it, on arrival there was nobody to welcome me to my horror and the PH number given to me was still turned off, on investigation the taxi driver and I figured out that I was apt number 2 as apt 1+3 were occupied. I knocked the door and was no lights and no answer, I turned and walked away confused and the taxi man tried the door and it was unlocked, we looked inside and a key with no note or instructions was sitting on the table. There was information inside next to the phone with PH numbers for the management, the very same number I had already called and was still turned off and another number which did not answer. I was now very concerned as the taxi had gone and I was in a property I was not 100% sure was mine, after a very nervous hour or so, a man came by to see if I had settled in OK ???? The most un-professional welcome from start to finish I have ever encountered. Having said that the room for the price is very good vfm but the WiFi is terrible and you get no maps or any info of the islands etc just a room and a key 😠

If you want the best budget accommodation on Mahe, look no further! This place is not 5* but is, at it's price, Mahe's hidden gem. Directly on the seafront with access on both sides to quiet sandy beaches. Kitchen facilities are not brilliant but adequate, there is a basic supermarket within a 5 minute walk "Kumar & Kumar" or head back towards the airport(3-4 minutes in a car) to a much bigger store with a much larger variety of goods, or for quality goods there is a supermarket towards the far end of Anse Royal(5-6 mins in a car) called Fresh(next door to "Ole" restaurant) which is 1st class! We had the central apt which is slightly larger & has a larger terrace facing the sea(recommended). We understand that a complete reform of this property will take place next year with a 4 apt building replacing this existing one, albeit still budget prices... very much recommended!

This lovely place is worth every rupee! For a low-budget price you get a fine, spacy apartment with all basics present, and the BEST view ever!! Mme Anne-Laure is a very friendly host, she's very helpful and responds promptly online. I read previous complaints on airbnb about bedsheets not being clean, I have NOT experienced this. Everything was very clean and also I do not understand why some people were complaining about road noise. I found it very tranquil. If you expect a five star hotel you should just not look for something in this price class anyway. La Desirade definitely meets and exceeds my expectations. Yes, the main road is nearby, but as the bedroom is pointed towards the sea you hear the waves better than the road. The beach in front is great for swimming and snorkeling during lower tide, and the apartment has a large veranda to enjoy the view all day. I wish I discovered this jewel earlier and will surely come back!

Very nice place, directly on the beach (Anse aux Courbes), nice terrace and view to the beach front. Point au Sel can be an ideal place for excursions on Mahe, relatively near to the airport and Victoria, close to Anse Royal, by car one can quickly reach all the points of interest. Self catering is absolutely no problem, 3 shops are nearby, also a very good bakery (try the banana cake!). Fresh fruits, vegetables and fish avalable at market stands along East Coast Road. Petrol station, bank, restaurants - just follow East Coast Road to the south - near to Anse Royal. Booking very uncomplicated, good and prompt service. The studio is very clean (cleaning service every day) and fully equipped for your daily requirements. Yvonne is taking good care of the site and of the guests, her always great assistance was highly appreciated. Thank you La Desirade team, we had a wonderful stay!

Well as promised I did return to La Desirade and I was not disappointed. Only 2 of us managed to go again in late October early November spent 2 glorious weeks in Mahe. Yvonne was there and treated us like royalty the rooms again were clean attractive and comfortable. Felt like home from home. The beach as usual was clean and comfortable. We were met by Emmanuel on our arrival and as friendly as usual. So sorry he won't be there next time I go, and i will be there sooner than later.

Arrived very late from the JHB plane and was met at La Desirade by Emannuel the security gaurd NICE GUY when we asked for food he walked us to the nearest hotel expensive but hey we were thirsty and hungry. we saw nothing as it was dark. IMAGINE waking the next morning looking out of the door onto the sea Oh wonderful. we stayed in April this year for a week a couple and myself in 2 chalets. they are adequate and really for self catering the are great, comfortable beds and everthing worked. the showers were fantastic. Yvonne the maid was very friendly and willing to assist. we hired a car and travelled around, our beach was deserted but being on the east very hot in the mornings so went to the west Baue Vallon etc. what was nice was we were far enough from Victoria to be quiet and relaxed but close enough to get all we needed. The supermarket was well stocked although we did eat out mostly. 4 of us are booked to be there for 2 weeks in October/November 2014. Must remember to go look for the bakery across the road. all in all WONDERFUL and I am looking forward to taking some other friends there for a holiday. Just cant wait to get on the plane.

Nicely located directly above a small strip of sandy beach, including the notorious coconut trees. Very quiet, small shops and restaurant nearby, even a local bakery. Self catering facilities are decent, so is the open plan living room. Bathroom might need an upgrade. The maid is not too thorough but nice enough, the guard is very friendly. Overall pleasant experience.

We arrived at La Desirade late the firt night and were somewhat schelptical. However when the sun rose the following morning we were pleaseantly surprised. The beach is about 10m from the front door and the amazing sunrise welcomed us into paradise. La Desirate is situated a at Pointe au Sel which is not swarming with tourists and as a result we had the whole beach to ourselves the 3 days that we were there. Accross the street is a local bakery and down the road is a supermarket whch stockss all the basics that you will need for a self-catering holiday. A 20 minute walk away is Anse Royale with a beatiful beach and ATM's. If you dont feel like walking then take the local bus (there is a bus stop a few meters away) for only R5. La Desirade is a great value for money accommodation, safe and private I would recommend to anyone. They also arrange transfers on request from the airport.

We liked this place and the view! Decent towels, bed and A/C. There's security at night to keep the locals honest and a safe in the room! Rooms are decent as is the bathroom. The bed faces the sea and that wonderful sunrise! It's quiet and we were able to check in early after arriving on a 7 am flight! There's a beach right out front for swimming and there's a kitchen to make meals, serve wine etc. We had breakfast in our place everyday, that was nice! Very clean and maid service daily! They made upgrades to kitchens, bathrooms and outside wooden furniture while we were there. This happened while we were away for the day at the beach. You need a car to stay here although the bus does stop right out front. We rented a car to be able to drive around to all the nice beaches and for food. The one drawback is there aren't many decent places to eat nearby. There's a pizza place and an expensive not recommended restaurant a few doors down avoid it! Decent place to stay for a reasonable place! Car highly recommended!
