Undoubtedly the location of this hotel is why it retains its clients - walk right into the ruins from the doorstep - a great advantage. Also the terrace outside is a great place to have a drink in the evening light. However the hotel itself is poor, we did not have a "view of the ruins" from our room, being... More

Great location since you will be right at the ruins! Busses of tourists arrive and eat en mass in an en masse dining room. We had a room in the new section which was covered in plastic-woollike carpets that gave off choking chemical fumes. One tiny window opened a crack even though the dessert air at night was lovely (in... More

Travelling independently by car, we made reservations with Zenobia ourselves. The amazing location must me quite unique! We found the staff to be kind and helpful. The room we had was nothing much, but tidy and clean. The food was all right, but again not very special. From the hotel we could simply walk into the grounds of the ruins;... More

The hotel is located within the amazing Palmyra ruins and nothing can prepare yourself for opening the curtains and seeing 2000 years of history outside your window. The hotel itself is reasonable but not fantastic. The staff are a little odd and we had a real problem paying the bill. The room price was quoted in Euros but could only... More

We liked : - The Zenobia Cham palace is at the edge of the magic Palmyra ruins site, you can't be closer - The nice and comfortable foyer next to the reception serves (slowly...) all drinks with breathtaking view over the ruins - Generous buffet breakfast, in the restaurant where main meals are also served This happened to us :... My wife and I stayed here for just one night in May, 2011. We were scheduled for two nights, but freak desert rainstorms cut all roads into Palmyra and we had to spend the first night in Hama instead. Between the storms and the political problems in Syria, we were possibly the only two tourists in the hotel, and only... More

I would give this place three and a half stars if I could, just for the location. I agree with the last poster, I don't get quite why people are complaining so much. When I arrived I was very apprehensive after reading the reviews and I though the place would be dreadful. Perhaps the rooms vary enormously. We were very... More

As part of a touring party of nine we stayed one night at this hotel. It is the best located hotel in the town and taking meals in such a spectacular location was magical. Yes the rooms are small and there are none with bathtubs, only showers. It is very clean. The rooms in the extension at the rear are... More

As has been said in other reviews ,you have to question why a hotel was built on such a precious ancient site. The original building was probably quite elegant but the addition of "containers" for extra rooms at the back of the site is a travesty! Our room was in one of these, small and shabby, though the "bedouin" style fabric wallcovering... More

The old French building is more attractive than photos indicate and everything is in good condition. The hotel is right at the ruins, has parking, and is therefore convenient. Other, newer hotels in the vicinity appear to be tacky, at least on a quick walk-through. The food at the Zenobia Cham Palace is its real weak point. There is better... More
