I spent one night here in October 09. I was impressed with the check-in staff who were very friendly and efficient. My corner room, ending in 01, was lovely, very spacious and comfortable, with great views and a good sized desk. I arrived at around 2pm, pretty shattered, so settled down for a nap. I just couldn't understand what the... more

it's begining to show it's age. The hotel was very crowded when I was there in Nov. Do expect to queue for breakfast if you are there during peak period. more

I had been on a business trip in Kaohsiung and I stayed for 5 days in Hi-Lai.What can I say about this hotel..excellent service, spacious rooms, clean and tidy spaces, friendly personnel. Try one of the 13 in-house restaurants. A real 5-star hotel.... more

nice 5* hotel, large lobby, wide choice of buffet breakfast, nice pool, lots of restns, big & clean rooms, fantastic location. The only thing lacking is the warmth and the enthusiam in service that i usually experience in taiwan from hotel staff to street vendors...... the staff were more robotic than sincere..... otherwise would have been a gem more

I've been using the Hailai for 2-3 night stays over the past 10 years. This is one of my favorite hotels in the 50+ countries I've traveled to. Always a warm welcome and ready with a room key. Super efficient check out. Excellent and fast laundry, big free b-fast buffet, nice pool with suit, goggle rental and it's connected to a... more

The Grand Hi-Lai overall is a very nice hotel but several things completely ruined our stay there: 1.) Either through incompetence or deliberate malice, they tried to cheat us. We booked a room via Hotels.com at a special rate via my Visa card. We rationally assumed the Visa card was used simply to hold the room, since when we received... more

Just came back from a week at the Grand Hi-Lai on business. The front desk warmly greeted us and were very kind. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was good size, with a deep tube and separate shower stall. I had the buffet breakfast every day. There were choices between Western and Chinese food. They bake their bread... more

Good location with beautiful views of the city and harbor, spacious rooms with nice decor--slippers and robe with turn down service, many amenities, best part is the amazing, friendly service-oriented staff (most speak english) that will make sure you have a great stay! more

We stayed there for one night in August. The hotel is really nice, with great views, and a great buffet upstairs (dinner, breakfast). The gym is amazing - with great pools and workout area. While not a 5-star Four Seasons, it was definitely a 4+ star (a la Intercontinental or Hyatt Regency). Really nice. There was nothing bad to say... more

A very friendly and elegant hotel. The room was spacious and clean. All the restaurants within the hotel were good, and the "help your self" breakfast is a true international event. This has got to be the best service, staff and facilities for your dollar (or pound ) that you will get. With the new high speed train to Taipei... more
