Nice, pleasant stay with my husband. The rooms are clean, with a tv, mosquito net, and fan. The bathroom wasn't my favorite, but we did have a western toilet and hot water (some other people we met ran out of hot water, but the hotel warns about this). We stayed here for one night before heading out to a safari. The gardens are pretty and they have a pool. Accomodations were basic but clean, though bathrooms in need of renovation (woke up to find a 3 inch slug in the shower due to crater size hole). Restaurant food and service terrible. We stayed at the Outpost Lodge two nights, once before our safari and once after. Stayed in two different rooms, both where very nice. The beds where comfy, bedding was clean. Mosquito nets did not quite fit bed and had a fair number of holes in them. The bathrooms are nice but the drain did not work in one shower.... more

What are people expecting for the price? We had a great stay, clean rooms, comfortable bed but basic. The buffet at dinner was great but you could pay for extras. the staff were friendly and tried to solve any problem. Lets face it this is Africa - if you want the Hilton then go pay their prices. more

Outpost looks fairly good when you arrive but the room was pretty horrible, the bed uncomfortable, not enough blankets and everything smelled a bit musty. The shower was difficult to control the temperature and only really trickled anyway. We were starving after a long bus journey and the food was...not good.
