For $13-15 per night including a good breakfast of eggs, bread, fruit, cereal and coffee, Bann go Been was the best value place we found in Khao Lak. Shared bathroom fan rooms are basic but clean, although pretty hot in the day, and bathrooms are fine. We were the only people in the block of about 6 rooms so had them to ourselves. I think all accommodation in Khao Lak is slightly overpriced for the quality, hence not quite giving an excellent rating, but you'll get a good night's sleep here, and town us just 5-10 mins walk away.

We booked a bungalow for 2 nights before heading out on a boat trip with Khao Lak Scuba Adventures. Was the perfect place to be after a few days bustle in Bangkok. It is a very simplistic place slightly down the road from the busier area. The staff were helpful and responsive to my emails, and arranged a taxi transfer for us from Phuket airport. Friendly smiles and greeting on arrival, we were checked in and led to our bungalow with some handy tips and explanations on the way. The bungalows are really nice and simple, with aircon and the basic amenities. The bed was comfy, we had no issues sleeping. Breakfast was super simple, toast and fruits, cereals etc, but our hostess did also recommend taking a stroll to the nearby market for some more variety of foods to eat. The beach was a short few minutes walk away. One of the big advantages of Bann Go Been is that it is not in the thick of it, and the beach is less resort and more beach bars/restaurants. Arriving on the beach there's a nice little cocktail bar, keep going right and you have some cute small beach bars which serve lovely food. Yellow Bar was perfect, really nice staff and good food. Swimming is also fun, it's not too shallow and has some good waves. Would definitely stay again at Bann Go Been and recommend it to all who don't want the cost and fuss of all the surrounding resorts. …

Booked on booking.com for me and the girlfriend whilst traveling around Thailand, we had already stayed in alot cheaper and better hotels. First impressions aren't great as the older lady, presumably the owner was sour faced, rude and just diddnt come across at all welcoming. ( not the ideal host ). Anyway I quickly got over her as alot of people are generally moody... The rooms aren't too bad, basics all there. Clean enough. The main thing that baffled me was on 2 srperate occasions we put the do not disturb sign on the door and on both occasions there we knocks on the door... The first time it was the maid at half 7 in the morning asking if we wanted more toilet roll? Now working in the Industry myself a more professional approach would have been to leave the stuff outside the door. Being woken up did not humour me in the slightest. And the second occasion it was said lady from the start, pestering us to book another night.. Now surely if i wanted to book another night i would go to her? Very unprofessional establishment and will not be returning. Although the nearby beach was perfect, but its not private so ot doesn't matter if your staying there or not. …

It all started pretty bad. First I could not find the place, because it is only marked very small in English. Then the Bungalow I had booked was not free anymore, apperently a missunderstanding with booking.com. Eventually they offered me for the first night a very simple room with no aircon and in room bathroom but for free and a 20% Discount on the rest of my stay in the Bundalow. I consider that generous. The place is quietly located amongs Palm trees, a nice 250 meters walk from a beautiful and very quiet beach with a Little beach bar. Perfect! My next stop in Khao Lak will be here again, especially since I also met other travellers like me who were not in search of a big Resort Hotel.
