For the price, this hotel was not bad at all. It was clean, with fresh bedding and comfortable beds. However, we were less than impressed to see gigantic cockroaches crawling around. I know that they are all over the place in South-East Asia but it was the first time I came across them in a clean and air-conditioned hotel room.

The BJ hotel is a budget hotel in the centre of Surat Thani town. This hotel is great if you arrive in Surat at odd hours on the way to Koh Samui. At USD 16 per room - a room which is clean and tidy and has fridge and LED Tv, really you cant ask for more. The hotel in in the centre of town, near all amenities and close to Seatran ferry office. Good Thai food available downstairs and by room service with the usual thai/foreign breakfast set for the more cautious. Very good value all round.

I have stayed at this place many times over the past 10 years. I like it because they are continually improving the hotel, but still offer rooms for good value. On this trip my family (2 adults and 2 toddlers) paid 520Thb for one nights accomodation. The spotlessly room had recently had a make over and included - fridge, cotton sheets, flat screen TV (several english speaking channels) aircon, twin bed and hot water shower. Room service was brilliant, a good selection of dishes priced between 40thb for fried rice thru to 100 Thb for pork steak, chips and salad. Thai dishes were authentic.

Have used this hotel, many times in the past, mostly as a one night stopover on my way to Koh Phangan. As I had booked, check in was swift, and the reception staff later proved to be very helpful with directions to a particular shop I was trying to locate. The reception area and cafe area has undergone recent refurbishment. Room with large double bed was clean, and well presented, although slightly dated and could have done with some refurbish too. Air con, hot shower, wifi, and mini bar all ok, the tv had only four channels, none of them in English. There are many small restaurants and local shops in the vicinity. Very little noise ensured a good nights sleep, and the early alarm call was bang on time. The room rate does not include breakfast. On departure, staff kindly located a tuk tuk, for me. All in all,it's a reasonable hotel at a reasonable rate.…

Centrally located right in Surat. The hotel looked good before we arrived, but we turned in the door of the room when it was dark and had no windows. The hotel was a bit more expensive than the hotels around, which can not be justified. Low standard.
