Nice location by the river. Great resort a bit off the road with lots of trees and by the river. Nice working Air con and comfy bed. Great option for breakfast, friendly staff. Well recommended for family with kids.

Really great place when prepared for peace and quiet. Amazing views and elephants bathing across the river twice a day. Our room was excellent, though had hoped for mosquito nets. Staff speaks poor English but somehow we managed with google translate. Really excellent food in the restaurant (though very slow service when more than one table occupied:-). Excellent cleaning and really lovely cleaning lady :-) Will definitely be back if we have the chance.

Rooms are a little dated but adequate for the price. We chose the location as we were going to the Nature Elephant park linked with the Chiang Mai (more)ethical park. It was perfect, just across the river so it meant we didn't have to get up super early for a bus from kanchanaburi.

Lovely hotel running alongside river kwai. Around 40 km. From bridge on river kwai, need to travel by car, hotel is quiet and good for family, friends and couple. We stay there on 22-23 April 17. We booked hotel include Breakfast and free WiFi at the hotel.

We had a nice stay here, but it's relatively basic and quite remote from any services, so having a rental car is almost essential and is easy with plenty of parking space. Then the location is quite central to various places: Sai Yok park, Erawan falls, Hellfire pass museum, Kanchanaburi and it's right next to the railway and its famous curve and cave. The kids loved the (again: basic) "villa" and playground. We didn't trust the pool since there wasn't a refreshing system. (We considered going to the pool next door for 50 Baht pp, but ended up going to West Wonder Waterpark instead) Breakfast was very nice, with great view towards the Kwai river. One of the AC'a broke down and couldn't be fixed which made the last nights quite uncomfortable.

My family and I had a lovely experience staying couple of nights at the Saiyok River House. We really enjoyed the two days by the Khwaei Noi river. The facilities were very comfortable if not spectacular, however the views from the restaurant and our room by the river certainly were. We hiked around the area and tried angling as well (unsuccessfully). The food was a revelation: Saiyok has a spattering of Mon, Karen and Thai cultures and the Mon dishes were definitely worth trying - the pork and fish curries were very different from the standard Thai fare. Add helpful, smiling staff and a fruit orchard around the property, and you have a combination thats hard to beat! Tip: Try out the wet market beside Wang Pho station, the adventurous would certainly enjoy the experience.

I and my parent stayed here for 1 night. I booked the superior room with extra bed but when I checked-in, the extra bed wasn't prepared yet. However, the staff said sorry and brought it to our room with nice service. The room was good. It had balcony and small wooden table outside. In the evening, it's really chill out, when we watched the sunset and had drink at the raft of resort. The resort located in the private area. If you hungry you can ordered from the hotel restaurant. But i'm not sure the closed time. The breakfast was good but Thai food was spicy. If i am foreigner, i think that i can't eat it.

Service was borderline terrible. The woman in the front desk was nice, but she could barely speak english. We arrived at around 4pm in the property and upon arrival asked the staff if we can still go to krasae cave since its only 2km away. She said that the tuktuk can take us for about 80 baht. We waited for almost 30 minutes and the tuktuk still can't be found. So, I told her if by 5 minutes the tuktuk haven't arrived yet, then just cancel it. After which I told her that we wanted to catch the first train out of Kanchanaburi and the train in the nearest station Thorn Krasae will depart by 5:45 am. At first she said that we can leave by 5:30 am, but due to our previous experience (or no experience) with the tuktuk, we opted to leave the hotel by 5am. I even told her multiple times to make sure she understood that we wanted to leave by 5 am as we didn't want to miss the train. The next day came and the tuktuk driver was nowhere to be found. I told my sisters to stay calm till about 5:10 then we started walking around the property to look for the tuktuk driver. Finally at about 5:15 we decided to just walk the 2.5 km towards the train station. :( Super bad service and unreliable staff. Positive: The view around the property is nice though. It is situated right beside the kwai river and they have a raft down in the river where you can sit and wait for the sunset.

I had a wonderful experience here!! It is so peaceful, and the complementary breakfast was fantastic!! It felt like I was in a log cabin in the woods :) It is in the rural areas of Thailand so be sure to find a loyal cab driver to pick you up!! There is a local market about a mile down the street for a fun night. The place couldnt have been more perfect for the price!

We stayed here for 2 nights and its in a lovely location right on the river very peaceful and quite, rooms where fine other then quite a few ants but that's to be expected, the real problem I had was with the service , first night we went to order food from the menu, "no have" I went through 5 items of no have before we just both orders chips and fried rice same went for lunch the next day however the food is good when you can get it, we wanted to go to hell fire pass which is about half hour 45mins away they charged us 1,100 Bart which is a lot as we had been quoted a taxi from kanchanaburi to hell fire pass for 1,300bart and that's a two hour + taxi trip, then when we went to leave we asked her for a taxi to the station it's like a 20minute walk but as we had heavy bags and it looked overcast, they tried to charge us 200 baht (we payed a taxi 50 baht to get to hostel from a station further away) and the taxi turned out to be the back of the girls motorbike there was no way we were fitting on the back with bags and all, anyway we walked and that's the thing with this place is kinda isolated so they can charge what they want and provide a bad service and there's no other options within walking distance.

Response from Best-Narut, General Manager at Saiyok River House
Responded 24 Sept 2013
Dear Miss Blubell, I am so sorry for the incident and your dissatisfaction. This message is not for justification but for trying to make understanding. I have talked with my on site manager about this problem and I have found out that our on probation front desk (lady boy) who we just hired last month caught cheated and we have fired him last week. Right now, from your message, we found out again that he tried to cheat on the transportation fees to the train station which we normally charge 50 baht. So we are really sorry about this. She also misunderstood about the order in the menu which I was told by the cook that you tried to order meat but she thought it is shrimp and that day our shrimp is out and it is too dark to buy from the market for you so we are apologize for this mistake. About the transportation to the hellfire pass. The trip also went to Saiyok Noi waterfall. We charged 1200 baht for the trip which start from 9 a.m. until around 3:30 p.m. This price is twice cheaper from our nearby hotel which the fee starts from 1500 baht just only hellfire pass. I am ensure that our resort offer the best price for transportation service and room rate in this area. However, I understand your dissatisfaction for the trip which worst thing is she let you walk to the train station which normally we should at least offer you a free lift. But since now we knew about her service and moral, we have fired her since last week. Thank you for your message and thank you for staying with us. I will try to make your comment as a tool for developing our resort in the near future. Best regards, Narut Hongratana-uthai
