I'd read reviews about lack of English skills in the staff and this is true. The hotel is lovely however and the pool, grounds and the setting next to the river is outstanding and more than compensated us for any language shortcomings. Location is a bit out of town and the 200 Baht tuk tuk fare each way is a... more

Very big resort at the river with a beautiful garden with lots of different flowers. But I think that would be it for the possitive points. It looks like this resort never modernised. The rooms are old and a bit smelly. The staff is friendly, but have no clue what they are doing. Also opud diner en breakfast were not... more

This hotel has a good location by the river and a promising main building, but the rest was a big disappointment. The rooms are spacious and clean, but the materials and colors shows no sign to be changed since 1980. The bathroom was tiny and dark. Even worse was a very bad smell in the elevator: We preferred to use... more

The hotel is too far from any outside attractions to walk, but the price for private taxis arranged by the hotel (even to the bridge - an 8 minute trip) is Baht 200 ($6.50) one way - well over the going rate for this area. Like other reviewers, we found the staff friendly, but with few English skills and seeming... more

This hotel is close to nothing. You had to take a taxi to get anywhere....even the bridge is far. The rooms were o.k. They were pretty large with basic amenities and there was a nice sized balcony, but no chairs to sit on out there. The real problem was with the mosquitos, they had sprayed the room before we got... more

This 2 star hotel, that charges 4 star prices, is about 5 kilometres from Kanchanaburi township, situated on the River Kwai is very disappointing. Service is a serious problem. There is an abundance of staff who lack of training, supervision or development have no idea how to manage the restaurant, bar, housekeeping or reception. The restaurant food is very ordinary... more

Pung-Waan Resort Kwai Yai, we have stayed here 3 times over the last 18 mths. Great spot, right on the Kwai River. Only a few minutes drive down to the centre of town. Beautiful gardens, the rooms are huge. Great price, very reasonable. First night they included a dinner cruise down the Kwai River, a nice touch. Great pool, and... more

we stayed for eight nights at this lovely hotel. the staff were very helpful indeed and the breakfasts were very good. it is a five minute taxi ride to 'the bridge' and floating restaurants etc., but if you decide to stay borrow the hotel bikes and cycle in for lunch [be sure to take some water with you]. the perfect... more
