We spent a week at Le Sultan Hotel in June 2023…. What did we think of it? ……. We booked a 14-night break for June 2024 the moment we got home! Upon our arrival we were wowed by the stunning view through reception over the pool and out to the crystal blue sea. We were given a warm greeting as we entered the hotel, and we were shown to the seating area to await our check in. However, rather than being left to wait, we were served a refreshing cool drink and given a warm moist towel to freshen up. The receptionist came to where we were seated to allocate our room and provide us with all the details that we needed for our stay. Shortly after this we were escorted to our room. We experienced one minor issue with our room and once we highlighted this with reception, they dealt it efficiently and with a smile, it appeared that nothing was too much trouble to make sure we were happy. Throughout our stay we were delighted with every aspect of the hotel. The food was outstanding, so much choice and variety for every meal every day. The food was always plentiful, displayed imaginatively, with much of it being prepared freshly in front of you. While it was all excellent, a particular highlight was the outside bar-be-que. Which served freshly cooked fish and vegetables. Even my partner, who refuses to eat fish at home was queuing up here for his meal and to discuss recipes/cooking techniques with the chef, who was always happy to take the time to talk about the type of fish that was being served that day. The suspicious red juice drink at breakfast is to die for! We tried it expecting a sugary processed drink only to be pleasantly surprised that it was pure strawberry juice! We opted for the all-inclusive package and found that a wide variety of drinks, both soft and alcoholic were always available when we wanted them, either from Le Calife (inside) or Yasmine (pool bar). We didn’t feel it necessary to pay extra for the branded drinks as the quality of those available was of such a good standard. Our room had a stunning view of the sea, and while not luxurious, had everything that you would need, including shower gel and shampoo, which was replaced each day as required. The air conditioning worked well, and the fridge was ideal to keep water and other drinks cool for when we returned to the room after a day by the pool, in the garden, or on the beach. Normally we would venture into the resort and never spend all our time at the hotel. However, on this occasion we chose to do just that, partly because we wanted to spend a week relaxing but also because there were so many activities to keep you occupied. We’re really looking forward to taking advantage of all the included water sports when we return. The entertainment staff were informative but never pushy, so we always felt confident that we could join in with any of the activities, but that we knew we would be left in peace if we decided to just relax in the sunshine. Every morning, we enjoyed a walk along the beautiful beach and still remember the feel of the hot sand and warm sea on our feet. Although there were vendors selling their wares, they didn’t intimidate us at any time and once we said ‘no thank you’ they left us in peace. We swam in the sea on a number of occasions and always felt safe as the hotel security was on hand in the vicinity of the hotel. We never had an issue with finding a sunbed, in fact we were able to return to the same spot every day, partly due to the fact that we didn’t see any early morning ‘marking of territory’ with the infamous beach towels. The snack bar served some excellent food, however, we only used this once due to the quality of the food in the main restaurant. The quality of the entertainment on the main stage was variable, but again there were some outstanding performers. We particularly enjoyed the violinist and singer. Although we didn’t travel with children the children’s entertainment appeared to be excellent, this took place in Le Calife in the evening and didn’t disturb the hotel guests who were seated in other areas. Special mention and thanks to two outstanding members of staff who made this wonderful experience into an exceptional one. We spent many of our evenings sat in the soft furnished area outside Le Calife bar, looking over the pool out to sea. Here our evenings were made complete by the outstanding care and attention given to us by our good friend Sofien. His charm, smile and good humour made us feel as if this was our home from home every evening. We can’t wait to get back and see him again. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the best place to sit, in our case away from smokers, and that we were never left wanting for anything. What we enjoyed most of all, were the moments (which unfortunately were not as frequent as we would have liked, as he and the other staff all worked so incredibly hard) when he had the opportunity to just chat with us and share stories and information about our different cultures. As already mentioned, the food at Le Sultan played a major role in making this such a memorable holiday. However, our meals became a dining experience thanks to the amazing Morad! We wanted to dine in the conservatory to fully appreciate the view out to sea as we ate, and Morad made sure that there was always a table available for us, no matter when we arrived. He quickly noted what we drank with our meals and ensured that this was on our table as we were seated, and that these were refreshed at exactly the right time throughout our meal. When possible, he even moved our table and chairs outside so we could genuinely dine alfresco. He and his team ensured that finished plates were never left on tables longer than necessary and that if any additional cutlery was required it would be waiting for us upon our return from the restaurant. We are really looking forward to dining at Le Sultan again thanks to Morad. Overall, we have only given you a brief outline of our experience but hope that this gives you a taste of this fabulous hotel and staff. Don’t hesitate, book it! …
