This hotel is known by two names -- Hotel President is the old name, but it is now being touted as "Registan Hotel". If you are unfortunate enough to get Room 502, expect a stained carpet, anemic a/c, a shower curtain that continually falls down and no waste basket in the room. I didn’t find the reception staff very friendly... More

This hotel has recently been renamed the Registon Plaza hotel, but is still known locally at the President so that's the name you should give to taxi drivers. The location is quite good, in the center of town on a broad, tree lined avenue, facing a park. The building itself is an awkward pastiche of styles and is entirely out... More

A comfortable hotel as expected. Rooms are okay and quite. Service was good. The food is average, don't expect something special. Drinks are way expensive like always in rated hotels. Bar closes early (11 pm). The location is a bit outside the center, but okay. Registan place is about 20 minutes to walk, the mausoleum Gur Emir is reached in... More

Samarkand was the center of the empire of the great Tamerlane and at the crossing of various branches of the Great Silk Road. Caravans used to convene in the city and the drivers, goods and animals found place all together in” kans” or caravanserais: a large square building with rooms opening around a central court: rooms on the floor to... Large hotel with excellent location near major sites. Comfortable place with friendly, helpful staff. We stayed during independence holiday and the shops, internet and food service was minimal. The staff however cared about our needs and ordered food for us and delivered to the lobby. They tried hard to provide care and attention.

The Hotel is in a very good location for visiting the town. The rooms are good and clean and there is a good big hall. The breakfast isn’t very good. The Hotel has a lots of rooms and usually the guests are of organized groups. The price of the Hotel is due to the location.

Style sovietic, Excellent location but very "cold atmosphere" hotel, has been been really renewed and if yes i dont see where. We spent there 2 nights. Rooms are minimalist, meaning : bed, tv, bathroom. the covers were very sold, the matress not so good. The breakfast was a trial to be something but no, thanks. the internet most of the... More

The rooms at this place are comfortable enough and a decent size, and the location is pretty convenient. However, the hotel has no soul and the staff tries hard but comes up really short in terms of making you feel like a valued guest. I think they are mostly used to dealing with tour groups who take care of a... More

This is an excellent hotel with well trained staff. When my room key did not work, someone from reception accompanied me to the 6th floor immediately to get it sorted. It was however indubitably a single room. The bed had only a single duvet cover and the duvet in the wardrobe did not fit in it when I tried to... More

Can't complain. Everything ran smoothly. Staff friendly enough. Breakfast buffet decent. Just a couple of minutes walk to the great sights of Samarkand.
