This ryokan is located about 20min cab ride from JR Matsumoto station. I was surprised to see the inside of this ryokan. There are two parts of building that are connected. Newer part is traditional tatami mats with attached bathroom and very spacious.

I stayed at this Ryokan which is in Utsukushigahara Hot Spring and its about 20 mins cab ride from JR Matsumoto station. They serve wonderful organic Japanese cuisine and Old part of rhokan is 250 year old house moved from Hida Takayama area. They have wifi in the lobby and owner speaks English. It's a wonderful facility and very friendly. I have some pictures if you are interested.
