It's an nice experience to stay in this hotel. Its room is of traditional japanese-style with tatami floor. The room that we stayed has a very beautiful ocean view. You can even watch sunrise if you can get up early in the morning. I like this hotel with its hot spring bathes, its quiet surroundings, its garden. The whole place... more

Well I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It was my first experience at a Onsen Hotel so I was excited by this prospect however there are some very strange things you need to know about this hotel. Firstly you are greated by very friendly staff who quickly take your bags and check you in, which is great. However, as... more

I went several times in Atami, then I knew this hotel (New Akao --- Royal wing) would be the best. Hotel New Akao has 'Royal wing' which is more luxuary than New Akao and located upper side of New Akao (Both hotels are connected inside). You can also use facilities of New Akao. All rooms have ocean view and very... more

This isnt some glossy, shi-shi place with extra fills, ill admit that. But once you indulge in the ocean views a bit, you'll realize you wont need extra fills. Due to the hotels construction, EVERY room faces the ocean, which means no matter where you're booked, you can wake up to the sunset everyday. Its nice if you enjoy the... more

Bearing in mind that the hotel had just been hit by a typhoon(!), we were almost the only westerners staying at the hotel. It was very much geared towards Japanese people, even down to the fact that the hotel shuttle bus from the station was only indicated by the Kanji script and not in English. Thankfully we had our daughter... more

Location: Its located along the coast of Atami and has a stunning view of the ocean. One side of the hotel will see the city and ocean while the other will see the hotel's garden and ocean. My room got to see the sunrise and it was gorgeous. This isn't a place you would stay for a long time unless... more

This hotel has an amazing view from every single room. I loved it! There were indoor and outdoor hot spring bathes. The outdoor one is small, but quaintly decorated with rocks and a tiny waterfall. I stayed here as part of a tour and I would have to say this was my favorite hotel during our 5 day trip in... more

I just back from Asia. This hotel is so unforgettable. Maybe Fall or Winter is the best time to visit Atami. My oceanview room is terriffic to watch Atami downtown. The heater is prettry warm in room so I let my window open a little bit and the cooler air is so fresh and mild. I can't believe my room... more

I stayed only one night in this hotel and I thought it was very nice. The sea view from my room was gorgeous, even if it was a bit foggy during the hotter season. The hot spring baths were very enjoyable, but beyond the little booklet of common courtesy in Japanese bathhouses, there is no staff to help out, so... more

Don't let the "new" in Hotel New Akao fool you. There is nothing new about this hotel. It is located seaside and all rooms overlook the ocean which is nice. However, the hotel is old and lacks central air conditioning and being seaside the air is always damp. Windows must be kept open for circulation but makes for a very... more
