Best location to experience typical Japanese inn with excellent food and hot springs bath. Very clean and has its own ropeway (cable car) from Hakone to the inn which is located on a creek in a valley. Best time to visit is autumn when the surrounding gardens burst into vibrant colors or spring when various flowers could be enjoyed.

For the full traditional ryokan experience Taiseikan is probably hard to beat.
