We stayed for one night in the Seikan-so as part of a sightseeing holiday. This is the only Ryokan I have ever stayed in so have nothing to compare it to, but we found it a fun experience for one night. I was expecting it to feel like a UK/North American B&B, but the atmosphere was much more like a... more

This ryokan (japanese-style hotel) is very clean, our room was huge, and we even had a balcony, with a view on the small garden. In the room there were an old tv-set, a tea set, towels, and two yukata. The common bath is small but it was OK because at the date of our stay there were few people in... more

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Ryokan Seikanso. It is located in a residential neighborhood that is in the very oldest part of Nara and is convenient to many siteseeing venues. Our room was located on the second floor where we shared bathroom facilities with others on our floor. The hallway was unheated, but we were supplied with... more

Comes with economic charge and antique Japanese style wooden interior, Seikanso provides travelers with satisfactory Japanese way of accommodation at cheap and affordable room rate. All staffs speak English, easy for English-speaking travelers to get in. We had difficulty finding the place, it's quite a walk from the train station. Although we loved the quiet, retro feel of this hotel, at night it was, honestly, a little creepy. (Reminded me of the movie "The Shining") Besides ourselves, there was only one other couple, so at night, it was deathly quiet, dark and sombre. The room was... more

My husband and I stayed in this ryokan for one night while exploring Nara. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The garden was beautiful. Our room was very large, very clean, and had a small deck overlooking the garden. The futons were quite comfortable. Our air conditioning system worked very well and the temperature of our room was comfortable as well.... more

Booked this ryokan through the Welcome Inn Reservation Center. I was worried due to some of the reviews on this site, but after all was said and done I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It is an older inn, and it shows, but if you don't mind that and just want a comfortable, clean, and inexpensive place to stay then this... more

Was not impressed by the old inn at first sight - somewhat run down but the room is spacious and faces a lovely garden. Value for money. It's a walk from the train station - about 20mins walk from JR station (longer if you are dragging along your luggage) and 15mins walk from Kintetsu station, but you have the option... more

Again – bucking the day-tripping trend, we wanted to spend 2 full days in Nara. I also wanted to try a Ryokan. This seemed to be a great idea – a budget Roykan. However for us, it was the wrong choice. However, there were a great many pros that mean that this could be the right choice for some. So... more

If you decide to buck the day-tripper trend and actually stay in Nara overnight, the Seikan-so is an excellent and very affordable place to do so. A quick bus or cab ride from the train station, the inn is in an area known as Nara-machi. Tons of stores, restaurants and Nara park are a quick walk away. The inn itself... more
