In a way I wanna give this place 3/5, but trying to make a list of negative things I realised that I put way too much weight on the lack of WiFi. And it would've been nice to have a decent breakfast option, but in all fairness I didn't really look into it. On the other hand I could also... More

Hotel seemed to have gone through a recent renovation and looked fairly new. Room was standard size for a typical Japan business hotel. We had a room facing the road but had no issue with noise although I am a fairly light sleeper. The biggest issue was communication with the staffs as they did not understand English. The other problem... More

We took a bus from Fukuoka airport to Kumamoto, and decided on this hotel since it is very near to the Kumamoto Bus Terminal (5 minutes' walk). Hotel is also near to the covered shopping arcade and Kumamoto Castle. JR train station is 5 minutes' drive away or 10-minutes' by the city tram. Just like any other typical japanese hotels,... More

We chose this hotel for the location and price and were fortunate to have one of their larger rooms. The reception staff were moderately friendly and helpful, not up to the standards that we had enjoyed everywhere else during a three week trip. Breakfast was not up to what we experienced elsewhere and the internet in the lobby (there was... More

This is a nice compact size room close walking distance to either the castle or the main JR train station. If you have luggage its advisable to take the tram as I just had a backpack and walked 25 mins to the station and 20 mins to the castle. Room was quite small but typical for Japanese hotels. If you... More

We enjoyed the good sized room (by Japan standards), which was carpeted, warm(it was freezing outside in Winter) and clean. The staff were great including the breakfast staff in the Good Rice Morning cafe down stairs. The hotel is well located a few meters from the bus station. The buses did not make any noise though that we could hear.... More

Typical Japan hotel with a smaller room than western style. It is ok for Asians but I doubt that Americans or Europeans would find the size of the room and the bed a bit small. The english-speaking staff is as friendly as your buddy to offer you all sorts of advice and smile. Even more I stayed here for 1... More

This is mostly positive. The hotel is located between the train station and the Castle. So you can take the tram (A line), get off at Karashima Cho, walk left for about 15 mins, past Dormy Inn, hotel is on the left. Warning: the tram costs Yen 150 and may be crowded, causing some discomfort when you exit. A taxi... More

My wife and I were on a sight-seeing trip around Kyushu island during the cherry blossoms season of 2010 (late March). We stayed one night at the Kumamoto Chisun Hotel and felt completely satisfied with our experience. Kumamoto turned out to be much larger than we expected, with lots of traffic. Staying in a hotel with good location makes a... More
