Husband and I visited Masoala Forest Lodge as part of the 2nd leg of our visit to Madagascar in December 2011. We have always wanted to see the Masoala Primary Rainforest and it takes some doing to get there but we made it this year. After a flight from Antanananarivo to Maroansetra it isjust a short but scenic boatride from... More

This could be paradise - pristine white sand beaches, snorkelling right off the beach, interesting walks in primary and secondary forests and along the beach with easy sightings of lemurs and other wildlife, and kayaking along a dream of a coast. A one hour open zodiac boatride from Maroantsetra, it’s a tented lodge, with a separate bathroom that is accessed... More

I spent three days in this lodge in mid August and this place can really be a paradise. The lodge is right on the beautiful golden beach and with the primary forest close by. Chris and Julie, the managers, are the kindest people you can deal with. The tent are not too big, but clean and the shower have hot... More

There is little to say about this lodge except it is truly wonderful. The hosts and staff were fantastic. The quality of guests they attract is very high and we enjoyed our stay here more than anywhere else in Madagascar. The rainforest, beach and wildlife was second to none and if you are planning a trip to Madagascar and love... More

"Welcome to paradise" was my greeting arriving at the Masoala Forest Lodge, and this summed up the wonderful experience I was about to have. I stayed at the Masoala Forest Lodge as part of a three week Madagascar holiday and it turned out to be by far the highlight of my trip .... originally booked for three nights only, I... More

We enjoyed a 3 night stay here at the start of our honeymoon. The adventure started with the 2 hour boat ride to get there - the waves were huge and we were soaked when we arrived. Those who suffer from seasickness - beware. Our tent was great, with the ensuite - now with the "first hot water" on the... More

Our stay was most pleasant. Extreme privacy, lovely setting with hot water. Great trail thru the forest with wild Lemurs within minutes if you are very quiet. Nice birding with great guides. More

Masoala Forest Lodge is a really great experience. Platform tents with comfy beds and hammocks yards from the beach and rainforest. Great snorkeling right off the beach. Tasty meals made with ingredients grown on the property. Swiss/South African/Malagasy owned. Sustainable/eco-friendly. Knowledgeable guides to show you the beauty of the rainforest. Kayaking too. A little slice of heaven and a bit... More

African safari style permanent tents on raised platforms. Extremely nice! There is a separate bathroom with flush toilets and a sink with running water, as well as a separate shower (no hot water, but they will bring you buckets of hot water for a warm shower if you need one). The tents are large canvas with lots of ventilation, all... More
