We stayed at the quaint Temple Tree Resort where they had restored antique villas for rent as one or as individual hotel rooms. We stayed at the 'Plantation House' as we travelled as a family and needed two rooms. Upon arrival we were served an icy cold drink, which was much appreciated in the hot afternoon. We were well looked... More

Had the pleasure to stay at the Temple Tree for 3 nights in March and simply loved it. The character and uniqueness of the resort amazed us, we loved the decor of our house and the food at both Temple Tree and the Bon Ton was fabulous and definitely must be tried. My friend had her 5 month old baby... More

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Temple Tree. It is difficult to sum it up adequately, because it is so unique. While Bon Ton, the sister property next door, is a collection of Malay huts, fitted out as hotel rooms, Temple Tree is a small selection of old wooden Malay houses harvested from various parts of Malaysia... I have been to Langkawi previously and stayed in one of the five star properties that had a private beach. This time I was looking out for a boutique property, and agoda had a good rate for Temple Tree and I chose the property after closely looking at all the other reviews here on Trip Advisor. I must say I agree... More

I enjoyed my stay here simply because the concept is so unique and the folk so friendly and hospitable. Rustic traditional houses transplanted from their original location and moved to Langkawi. We booked 2 nights at Colonial 4 which accommodates 4 adults - 2 bedrooms (2 singles and a double) both with ensuite bathrooms. Colonial 4 is located at the... More

we stayed at the colonial 1, well furnished with vintage pieces around the room, 2 shower heads and a cute outdoors bathtub. good sized room and bathroom. The property is very charming, quaint vintage houses with a small pool and cats wandering around plus the resident dog. The service was amazing!! the only downside was our neighbours upstairs who kept... More

When we booked this hotel we had no idea how wonderful it would wind up being. We were welcomed with refreshing pineapple mint tea and a friendly smile. The resort has so much character we couldn't stop talking about how much creative effort had to be put into producing the innately tranquil atmosphere. All of the homes were beautifully decorated... Stayed 3 nights at the Temple Tree section of the joint Bon Ton/Temple Tree resort in April 2013. Where Bon Ton offers traditional Malaysian cottages on stilts brought up to modern standard, Temple Tree section offers old colonial buildings from Malaysian mainland. These have been transported and re-erected on Langkawi. Really cool idea! This review will cover both Bon Ton... More

Well I have now lost count quite how many times I have returned to this beautiful resort in Langkawi, once again we were greeted personally by the team and enjoyed our welcome drinks before checking in to the 'Chinese House' which in my opinion holds the best setting in Temple Tree, we had the whole house as 3 of us... My girlfriend and I stayed at the Temple Tree for a 3 day long weekend and couldn't have been happier. The houses are really cool and the pool was great for lounging around. We hired a car to explore the villages and island but were happier spending the most of our time at the Temple Tree. We managed to sample... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Though classified as B&B/Inn, Temple Tree is actually more of a boutique resort of many cultures, an eclectic mix of heritage chic...Antique buildings of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian origin, make up this 8 villa hotel, with 8 rooms & 6 suites now open. Each building has, over its 70-110 year old history, created its own heart and soul. Hopefully we have given due respect to each of these family homes with the restoration process. These houses are now the continuing story of people who live in them, our guests. ... more   less
