As the new hotel of choice for Malaysia Airlines travelers in KK with flight problems, the Megah D'Aru Hotel turned out to be a pleasant, if no-frills, overnight stay in Kota Kinabalu. The hotel is in the Tanjung Aru district, within a stone's throw of KK International Airport Terminal 2. The hotel is right on the airport's flight path, so planes literally roar overhead until about 10 PM -- but afterward, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is within footsteps of a decent hawker center (food court) and a night market, and is in a bustling neighborhood of local shops and budget eateries.
